Is this a joke?
Firebird on February 23, 2009 at 11:47 AM
Hey, look at it this way. Biden’s so stupid that he might not actually spend the money.
J.J. Sefton on February 23, 2009 at 11:48 AM
This will help the markets… LOL!
Firebird on February 23, 2009 at 11:48 AM
Forced patriotism.

We are all caught up in a collective nightmare. You know the kind… we know we’re having a bad dream but we can’t quite get ourselves to wake up.

From Shots on the House:

Biden was the obvious choice, considering he’s so good at math…

When I first read the headline above, I laughed. “Is AP doing some kind of The Onion thing?” Nope.
The Dow responds:
LastRick on February 23, 2009 at 11:54 AM
That’s nice. But I’d rather Joey B oversee third so the White House can own every corrupt practice and failed program that slips through the cracks. Win or lose, it’s all up to them.
Trent1289 on February 23, 2009 at 11:54 AM
this not third
Trent1289 on February 23, 2009 at 11:55 AM
Yep. Joe is such a master of math that he can certainly watch over the stimulus money.
You know, that “three letter word, j-o-b-s” Joe.
God help us… please!
Yoop on February 23, 2009 at 11:55 AM
I hope this means Joe will give more interviews. I suppose a barnstorming tour with extemporaneous speeches at every stop would be too much to ask.
a capella on February 23, 2009 at 11:56 AM
What could possibly go wrong.
Tim Zank on February 23, 2009 at 11:57 AM

Joe must know how to change the oil on the bus.
Patrick S on February 23, 2009 at 11:58 AM
Another bannable comment springs to mind…..
Vashta.Nerada on February 23, 2009 at 11:58 AM
Joe’s 30% probability of failure just went up to the 40-45% range.
3 letter word… JOBS…. J-O-B-S
yikes

Ted Torgerson on February 23, 2009 at 12:00 PM
If this wasn’t so sad it would be so funny!
Why not Chris Dodd or Barney Frank?
So many jokes…
Firebird on February 23, 2009 at 12:00 PM
So does this mean as part of the next spending bill, the stimulus czar will give everyone in America hair plugs?
jon1979 on February 23, 2009 at 12:00 PM
Talk about the inmates running the asylum. This guy is so dumb that he thinks a czar is a good smoke.
Uniblogger on February 23, 2009 at 12:01 PM
Honey, we really can’t go on this way.

Is this Obama’s way of getting Biden off his back?
Phoenician on February 23, 2009 at 12:03 PM
Obama you magnificent bastard! “Hey, Joe Fucked up. You know Joe…!” /sarq
Caper29 on February 23, 2009 at 12:04 PM
Why do I feel as if Uncle Billy from It’s a Wonderful Life has just been charged with the responsibility of watchdogging the stimulus?
Obama had better requisition a lot of string for reminders.
BuckeyeSam on February 23, 2009 at 12:05 PM
I find hair plugs to be so stimulating.

MarkTheGreat on February 23, 2009 at 12:07 PM
Seriously, I’m waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop out and tell us “Dude, you’ve been punked!” because this joke can’t possibly keep going.
CookeyD on February 23, 2009 at 12:08 PM
Stimulate me, Joe, STIMULATE ME!
Oh, wait…
Lawrence on February 23, 2009 at 12:10 PM
Well, Biden does have such a strong grasp of economics. And he’s been so successful with his own personal finan… wait just a minute!
Total screw up, God love ‘im.

“Hey! I’m Joe. I’m from Scranton. Let me stimulate you! God Love’ya!”
Caper29 on February 23, 2009 at 12:12 PM
This is all part of Obama’s master plan to dump Biden in 2012 and put Hillary on the ticket. Not only does he get rid of the gaffemeister, but he gets to pin the entire 4 year economic failure on Plugs.
BPD on February 23, 2009 at 12:12 PM
Is it just me or is watching this administration like watching a train wreck in slow motion?
Old Hippie Vet on February 23, 2009 at 12:13 PM
+1 my thoughts exactly.

Whats wrong with Turbo Tax Tim?
the_nile on February 23, 2009 at 12:15 PM
Nope… not Hillary. She only got State to shut the “Centrist Dems” up.
It’ll more likely be someone “fresh, new, and young” like Tim Kaine, Kathleen Sebelius, or Evan Bayh. The person who replaces Biden as VP will be groomed to win the presidency him- or herself in 2016. Obama doesn’t want Clinton. He wants to be the kingmaker.
Abby Adams on February 23, 2009 at 12:18 PM
I don’t know how I feel about this. He did uncover the scandal at the interior department last year (here), but not until it got wayyy out of control. I suppose this provided him with some cred and that is why obama picked him. That said, he was not able to nip it in the bud and we can not afford to let this get out of control and figure out how to deal with scandal/waste after the fact. The package is wasteful enough in it’s essence.

“Joe, go slop the hogs!”

Dang, that Obama really knows how to flex his leadership muscle. I can feel the calm starting to settle over the land knowing that ol’ Joe is the steward of our tax dollars. Folks, join me in a few choruses of “Happy Days are Here Again”…

james23 on February 23, 2009 at 12:34 PM
I wonder if Biden realizes he’s being’s being set up to take the blame for o when this fails. Probably not.

They can’t hide the fact that Obama knows only crooks and thugs and tax cheats. He’s having a staffing problem, doesn’t he? He can’t staff the normal cabinet and forget allthese czars.
promachus on February 23, 2009 at 12:40 PM
Obama’s motto: “Keep your friends hidden, and keep your enemies in the firing line.”
logis on February 23, 2009 at 12:44 PM
OMG. Biden is a complete retard!
dogsoldier on February 23, 2009 at 12:51 PM
That was my thought exactly. Going into this, Obama assumed that his foreign policy would explode first and most spectacularly, so he put Hillary at State.
I don’t think Obama was expecting this much “success”, this early on, with the economy. Otherwise, I’m sure he would have put Hillary in a position to take the fall.
Apparently, Obama decided that Biden has done enough by now to earn the honor of taking the blame for the collapse of the entire US economy. It’s a giant responsibility but, ironically, this may be the only job Biden can handle without completely screwing it up.
logis on February 23, 2009 at 12:52 PM
Is it me, or does this entire administration resemble the crew for a comedy-marathon show?
Last comic standing gets an all-expense paid weekend at the Motel Six in downtown Pioche, Nevada. Candlelight meal at the local Mexican carryout included in the package.
Oh, wait… there is no motel in Pioche. That’s the final joke.
Yoop on February 23, 2009 at 1:02 PM
Prediction:
At least 20 grand of the stimulus will “go missing” one day and Biden will show up with a full head of hair the next.
Chuck Schick on February 23, 2009 at 1:18 PM
Biden couldn’t stimulate a sloth.

caligula’s horse (From Urban Dictionary)
Caligula’s horse (noun):
An imposter or phony. Someone who holds a position he or she does not deserve.
The Roman emperor Caligula once made his favorite horse a senator.

Hey, everyone, let’s be fair.
When it comes to government spending the public’s money, the Biden family has lots of experience!
PaddyJ on February 23, 2009 at 3:33 PM
Why is everyone so down on Biden?
I’m sure he’ll do as fine a job as President Roosevelt did when he went on television after the Crash of ‘29.
malclave on February 23, 2009 at 3:39 PM
Sooo who is this vice president you ask?………A plaragist who had to drop out of a presidential bid, and who is too dumb to pour pee out of a boot, that’s who!
