Biden may not be the only one in the Obama adminstration with a gaffe problem. When Obama doesn’t have his telprompter in front of him, he blurts out gems like that he wanted to spread the wealth around, that he didn’t care if lower taxes generated more revenue, he wanted them higher for “fairness,” and that crack about Nancy Reagan and psychics.
Wethal on January 23, 2009 at 10:07 PM
Yes, it is on. I’ve noticed that Rush, Levin and Hannity have all come out strong this week in stressing the need to cleanse the party of Rhinos. I’m sure they are on to what has been happening since the election and that is the Rhinos are trying to co-opt the party and marginalize the social conservatives. This is probably going to get ugly within the party very soon.
KickandSwimMom on January 23, 2009 at 10:08 PM
Your evidence is compelling.
Spirit of 1776 on January 23, 2009 at 10:08 PM
The One will ultimately lose this tiff. Rush has three hours a day to make his case. A president bullying a private citizen, a talk show entertainer lowers the office, lowers the bar of civility.
Oh man, he’s stepping in it big time with this one. Surely Rush is saying Bring It!

At the risk of repeating myself, this is another rookie mistake. That Mr. Obama would even lower himself to notice and comment on a radio talk show host is just plain stupid. He just gave Rush more power than anything Rush could do himself. Really really stupid. I think I am finally seeing my own rainbows and unicorns.
Cindy Munford on January 23, 2009 at 10:17 PM
As opposed to an anonymous blog commenter?
BTW, Rush is off pain-killers and weight has nothing to do with intellect. He only wants liberalism to fail to be implemented. If Obama pushed conservative policies, I’m sure he would be supporting these measures. And if you have to take your insults from a hack like Al Frankin, that speaks volumes about the depth of you intellect.
darii on January 23, 2009 at 10:18 PM
I don’t much care for Limbaugh, but I’m certain he can make mincemeat out of Osama Obama. He offends me at times, but his intellect is superior to the Messiah’s by a long shot.
And I’d prefer to listen to him instead of Obama, too.
Much better would be an Obama-Levin matchup. President Constitutional Scholar wouldn’t last a minute with Levin.
Hannity, not so much. If Obama granted him an interview, he’d be a “great American” by the end of the show. And Hannity would tell him to “let not your heart be troubled.”

You’re right. Also, about 2-3 weeks ago Rush mentioned that he had a “spy” at some big RNC meeting or other, and that things were not good. The Repubs just did not get it, and they were still going along with the failed RINO strategy, and most decidedly were NOT going to get back to their conservative roots.
This could not happen at a worse time in our history.

Wow, Rush is already getting to him.
How long did it take for Clinton to start sniping at Rush? I know it wasn’t less than a week.

JoeAvg on January 23, 2009 at 10:22 PM
Because he thinks Obama’s policies will NOT fix this situation. That’s why he wants these policies to never be implemented.
There is a big difference between not wanting something to be implemented and wanting something bad to be implemented and ruin the economy just for political gain. Rush only wants the former.
darii on January 23, 2009 at 10:22 PM
He thinks the Republican resistance to his plan is being caused by Rush’ strong personality to rally the troops.
Understandable, because like the lib Obama is, he thinks that things only got done in his community because HE organized them. He doesn’t understand the individuality going on here or the desire to maintain liberty.
It brings to light two very important things -
1> Obama’s reading the Drudge Report and/or watching Fox News… or listening to Rush. That means this “plan” is not being argued on its merits. He’s angling via political tactics. You guys screaming “Alinsky” just got some proof for your side. This is right out of the Alinsky playbook.
2> Obama thinks he’s smarter than he is. He’s running plays out of the playbook but he can’t adapt. Get him off pattern and he’ll run back to his comfort zone (Contrast that with Reagan and Clinton who could change tactics on the fly).
It was this kind of plastic candy-a** government why Bush won office and why he STILL has support.
To the Repubs in congress. You want to keep this party? Vote no on this legislation. And if you don’t have the cajones to do so at least vote Present. If the Democrats want their “great shopping spree” let them vote it in on their own.
Join this monstrosity and we WILL make a new political party.
Yes we can.

This is the tipping point. Are the republicans who have listened to the advice of the elitist establishment “republicans” (Noonan, Will, Lowry, etc) continue to side with them and lose again, or finally listen to us their constituency?
Rush, Hannity, Levin, etc. are accentuating and emphasizing the need to return to Reaganism. Enough of the big spending, listening to the McLames and Grahamnestys, bowing down to the MSM and Obama, enlarging our government, taking away our liberty, and sitting down and NOT FIGHTING these liberals.
Since Rush and Levin are especially motivating the base to eliminate RINOS, Obama sees the threat. We totally are sick of these losers and the House is paying attention. Frankly, the senate is a lost cause, but we can fix that in 2010. Maybe McConnell started listening to Levin and Erickson in RedState.
jencab on January 23, 2009 at 10:30 PM
Rush has been dropping hints at what needs to be done. He has really stressed that the key is a grassroots movement. I sense that Rush has given up on the GOP as being able to reconcile the problems between the wings of the party and is advocating a new direction for conservatives at this point. Levin is really fired-up about the mid-term elections in 2010. He wants McCain’s seat to be taken then – if only! Even Hannity, the newer and more naive kid on the block, has figured out that the current crop of republicans (except for a few) are hopeless and need to go.
At this point, we need a few conservative leaders to step forward and start fighting what will be a long, dirty fight. Who should the standard-bearer be??

Obama isn’t just telling “people” what they can and can’t listen to — he’s telling Senators.
Obama is taking the same approach with the United States Senate that Caligula took with the Roman Senate: drawing a line in the sand and making clear in absolutely no uncertain terms that he will not negotiate in the slightest. Ham-fisted? Sure. But if we don’t get our act together, even these simpleminded tactics can be perfectly effective.
In other words: Obama is making it clear that Senators are either with him, or they are against him. There can be no middle ground.

Why is Obama so worried about Limbaugh? He knows republicans are listening to the conservative leader and he wants to control the republicans in the Hill into thinking that Noonan and those establishment Washingtonian “republicans” are representative of conservatism.
He ain’t fooling us and he certainly can’t fool Limbaugh and Levin.
jencab on January 23, 2009 at 10:50 PM
Yes. He seems to be ‘drawing a line’ and it is a very foolish thing to do. I wonder, if all along, this brook no interference characteristic was there and was masked by his dedicated pragmatism in doing and saying whatever it took to get elected. There is, apparently, an autocratic side to Mr. Obama, which, if he is wise; he’ll get under control—fast! As for effective tactics, for a while maybe, but over the long term they’ll never work. Sooner or later he’s going to have to choose from among factions in his OWN Party and ride rough shod over the losers.

Sure can. But rather than paint pictures with words, get up off your couch and go out and look at the people around you.
You’ll see lots of people who are descended from freed American slaves brought here from Africa. Most of them clearly share facial characteristics since they all came from a relatively small group.
The real racist slime is Obambi, because he has nothing in common with freed American slaves except skin pigment.

What the history books now say about the “success” of FDR: He got us out of the Great Depression.
Forget the fact that unemployment was over 20% for a full decade. He gave fireside chats. His big-government programs prolonged the depression, and we’re still dealing with the silver-bullet known as Social Security. I’m fairly convinced that will prove to be the death of America.
This is the “success” Obama wants to repeat.

Obama has his email and cellphone lists that he used to swarm the Chicago talk show host who wrote the Obama biography. And he plans to use those lists again to get Blue Dogs and RINOs to get with the program.
Obama knows that Rush’s listeners can act the same way. Rush urges them to call their Congressmen, and a lot of them will. Rush can rally conservative troops.
Obama doesn’t want any competition for his Brownshirts.

Noneya, like Obama, are incapable of understanding that other people can have different opinions for honest reasons – that other people can actually believe different things.
They may be able to say the words, but their every reaction and comment belie the claim.
This is why every opponent must either be mesmerized or have ulterior motives. It’s a combination of an unwillingness to question their own beliefs and a pedestrian mind subject to crushing intellectual habit.
The “trolling” part is different, that comes from being emotionally trapped in the fourth grade.

Clinton took about a year-and-a-half to get really mad at Limbaugh, going on KMOX radio to complain during the Hillarycare battle in the run-up to the 1994 election, and then went after him the following spring after the Oklahoma City bombing by trying to tie talk radio into Timothy McVeigh.
But for at least part of 1993, Rush and Bill were allies, thanks to Clinton’s support of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Right now, at least on the foreign policy front, Obama seems to be tacking away from the left (at least if their reaction to Friday’s missile strike on al Qaida is any example), so we’ll have to see what happens.
Limbaugh was against the bailout plan when Bush was president, so if Obama’s mad about him attacking the new president for that he’s going to have to wait a while for an apology. On the other hand, if Barack does continue the Bush foreign policy and continues to battle the terrorists in Afghanistan without wussing out due to whining on the left but doesn’t get any credit in the future from Rush for defying his base, then Barack would actually have a legitimate complaint.

The post about Carville warning Clinton not to mess with Rush was spot-on and that’s why Carville is a great advisor. Neither Obama nor anyone on his team have the verbal dexterity to go against Rush. No liberal can go against Rush because Rush doesn’t take them seriously and if you don’t take a liberal seriously, they’ve already lost the debate because they believe everything they think is sooooo serious, when it’s really just annoyingness and pretentiousness (cf. the stars “pledging” to serve Obama) codified into a political platform.
Rush is right not to take them seriously. They are the detritus of an American civilization they could not have built nor will be able to improve upon, no matter how much time there is left in history.

Then get every Democrat to vote for it and then sign it into law.
He won the election on vague statements of hope and change, not specific tax policies. Besides, if the Republicans in question were elected to their offices by voters who don’t approve of Obama’s plans, they have every right and duty to represent that viewpoint and muster support for it. Obama won President, he didn’t win all 535 seats of Congress. If he’s a Constitutional scholar, he should understand that. He should also understand that some people are very principled when it comes to being against public spending and try to be judicious about it, not simply spend like drunken sailors (although, sadly, too few members of Congress fit that bill).

Isn’t Noneya one of the ones who complained when Palin brought up the people who tried to smear her? They called her petty, and told her to get back to governing. For some reason, they don’t feel the need to apply the same argument to The One, who actually has significantly more governing to do than Palin, or any governor of any state for that matter. For some reason, even though Limbaugh isn’t delving into conspiracy theories, simply applying some pointed, honest criticism, Obama isn’t held to the same standard as a woman who was eviscerated by the media and when she brought it up in an interview about media bais was seen as complaining. Yes, he’s definitely had an easy path. But, as Shakespeare said, “Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown”. Gotta make Obama “uneasy”. Then, either his paranoia will get the best of him and he’ll snap or he’ll learn to cooperate. Either way, it’s a win.

You’ve hit the proverbial nail on the proverbial head. Bambi sees himself as someone preordained by destiny to rule. He is a narcissist of the first order. His actions reveal a level of immaturity and even childishness at times. On facing defiance, his first reaction is to lash out. He is petty, he nurses grudges, selfish, greedy, and above all else, very ruthless.
And he’s the President of the United States.
God save us all.

You know I always wondered why Obama went after Hannity so much during the campaign, but steered clear of saying anything about Rush. I thought maybe it was because he knew if he did that he would be absolutely humiliated. Apparently now that he’s President he feels that he’s powerful enough to pick a fight. Of course we know that he’ll probably end up trying to silent Rush and talk radio anyway because he’s too much of a wuss to actually have a fair challenge.

The radio interview where he discussed his Constitutional views was rather boilerplate leftism, certainly not anything original.
I read this article on Obama’s political views the other day and thought it made some insightful points:
http://www.claremont.org/publications/crb/id.1579/article_detail.asp
Obama’s definitely a continuation of a certain type of Euro-American (primarily American, but with some Euro) “progressivism”, just in a bi-racial skin. I don’t think this particular political philosophy makes a ton of sense in today’s world (or any world, really) but Obama seems to believe in it and is trying to implement it as we speak.
venividivici on January 24, 2009 at 12:22 AM
Yet the man raised hundred of millions of dollars for his campaign. This is serious money and didn’t come from $200 donations. Someone has made an investment in our new President. He will be managed. The media will be managed. To not see this is merely buying into another kind hope and change.
genso on January 24, 2009 at 12:22 AM
Exactly!!
This is a pressure cooker and something is going to blow. He is changing the entire dynamic of our foundations and at some point it’s going to get very very ugly.
The American people have freedom in their genes and he is rapidly and cunningly ripping the foundation of this country apart. It is shocking what is happening. We have never in this country’s history had someone at POTUS whom, I believe, dislikes this country and plans to dismantle it.

I would love to ask all the Democrats in that room if they listen to Limbaugh.
I would love to ask all the Republicans in that room if they listen to Limbaugh
I would then love to hear exactly how the GOP has been listening to Limbaugh and applying what he says.
I would then love to hear why, all of a sudden, when the Republicans are in the minority, the minority party’s rights to dissent disappear.
Because, the Democrats sure whined and moaned a lot about their right to dissent when the shoe was on the other foot.
If the GOP had actually been listening to Limbaugh for the past eight years, who knows what might have been accomplished.

I have listened to Rush on and off since 89 and I have little respect for the man any more. Since his self-inflicted hearing loss he is just not the same guy. If he wanted to he could have become our version of Soros, but he is too concerned with his next round of golf. He does nothing but read the Drudge Headlines to the audience every day and steal material from Savage. I actually heard him use the Savage phrase “Trickle Up Poverty”, the very day after Savage used it on his show. F’n pathetic. The man is soft and has no real fight outside his sheltered studio.
He could actually care less about what happens to the country. He has no wife and no kids. When the bombs go off he will just sit back and watch the mushroom clouds from his Gulfstream as he flies off to Costa Rica.

Honestly though, I cannot believe this person (Noneya) is truly serious about what she says. I think she’s just having a ball writing gibberish and watching all of us go ballistic. The best way to handle her is ignore her. She feeds on the back and forth. Without that she’ll starve to death.
On the other issues; Look folks, nothing is going to happen until someone with clout (either a conservative congressman, senator, governor, or well-known, and respected, commentator) starts announcing press conferences that focus on the lies and misrepresentations that spew from this president and the left-wing democratic party. Rush can’t do it because he’s been painted with the well worn clown brush of the David Lettermans and John Stewarts of the world. Mark Levin is great, but he comes off as a maniac. The one who really knows his stuff, and is not afraid to engage in “hand-to-hand” combat with the left is Mark Steyn. I’m for drafting him as our new conservative spokesman. And convince Dennis Prager to run against Boxer here in California. He’s a tremendous asset as a talk show host, but we need men like him in the Senate.

Whoever made the Alinsky playbook point is also right on. Isn’t it important, according to the source, to call out and isolate the critic and make them the target? Correct me if I am wrong, but, the end result is sometimes imprisonment and/or execution (in other countries, no doubt.) The media helped him out quite a bit during the election. Sarah was the target and they circled her and took her out. It is obvious his sights are on talk radio and it is certainly mixed into this nasty, pork-laden “stimuling” contraception package…heh…wrapped up in palatable euphemism like, “localism.” I think whoever said the Rs on the Hill need to just be in lock step against, basically, everything is correct. What do they have to lose? They need to obstruct it all. Seriously. Bipartisanship only means movement to the left. Always.

Can’t wait to see if Maobama is foolish enough to try and “clarify” this remark- he stuck his foot in it big time and Rush is going to run with this indefinately. I’m not sure of the exact figure, but Rush has an audience of several million everyday, and as Barry continues to stumble and stutter, Rush is going to pick up all those “moderates” that couldn’t bear the idea of another Repub in office, but weren’t 100% sure about Barry.

I think social conservatives and libertarians can meet in the middle if both are willing to accept the notion of local decision making and federalism as regards social issues where the people at the state or local level in the form of their elected representatives or through referendums decide issues such as gay marriage, abortion, and even drug legislation. Just as you had–and still have in some areas–”dry” counties and “wet” counties, you could have “grass” counties and “no-grass” counties or states.
But yes, for an alliance between libertarians and conservatives to work0–and I do think we need an alliance, social conservatives will have to give some ground on some issues and libertarians will need to give ground on some policy positions as well as I also am more than a little concerned by the foreign policy positions of the Paulist and Buchananist wings of libertarian political philosophy.
Getting back to the topic at hand, Rush is performing a very important task here–I think he’s deliberately setting himself up as a lightning rod for Bambi and his O-bots to attack and Bambi has obligingly fallen for it. This is a confrontation can’t win without showing his true colors for all to see–that’s what Rush is counting on. Rush is also providing a protective screen and an opportunity for a potential conservative political leadership–Sarah Palin, Gov. Sanford, some of the younger Republicans in the House–to rally and stake out a principled stand while Rush takes the heat and throws it back and Bambi.

He still cares, for now. His cool, calm thing is a mask. But sooner or later he will show his true colors because he can’t separate in his mind attacks on his policies/beliefs with attacks on his falsely constructed ego. I predict self-preservation motives will cause him to lash out, and it will have very little to do with policy. And if he ever goes down, he will seek to punish others for what he will see as personal betrayal of his self-created myth.
JiangxiDad on January 24, 2009 at 10:31 AM
Dems are always talking how bipartisanship is the best course for Republicans. Republicans should have figured out that you don’t win by doing what the other side tells you to do.
Of course, Dems know that by appealing to the vanity of guys like McCain, they can short-circuit whatever commonsense thinking such aging peacocks have left. McCain really is on the same page as most Dems, and I would love to tell him to not let the door hit him in the ass as he is leaving the Republican party.

This is all about the Fairness Doctrine and the fact that president obortion knows that there are more balls on a womens swim team than the Republican leadership in either the Senate or House. He plans to govern by EO’s and don’t try to get in his way.

B)revolution/civil war
C)President Rush Limbaugh

Did I miss something? Where did he go after Judaism/religion?
katy on January 24, 2009 at 10:37 AM
Dang! You confused the hell out of me. I kept re-reading both post trying to figure out what you were on about. Then it hit me your post was an addendum not a condemnation. At least that’s what I’m thinking.
Oldnuke on January 24, 2009 at 10:43 AM
Good Lord! I had always thought that using the name was a flippant insult, but your right. I hear that there is a power struggle between Mr. Obama and Ms. Pelosi, I wonder how much collateral damage the country will take?
Cindy Munford on January 24, 2009 at 10:48 AM
I’m already seeing at least two–maybe three–power struggles going on here and this administration is less than a week old!
This is a clusterfrackup in the making!
Matt Helm on January 24, 2009 at 10:52 AM
Hussein repeatedly called out Hannity, and ended up as part of his introductory montage. +1 Sean.
Now he’s telling the kids on the playground that he wants to fight Rush next. This can only amount to +1 Rush – unless and until Hussein can throttle all talk radio with “
localcommunity activist control” or the unFairness Doctrine. Not because he’s right, or smart, or has history on his side, but just because he can.Akzed on January 24, 2009 at 10:57 AM
I see that is the goal- to get along./sarc
Here I thought it was to do what is right.
Jamson64 on January 24, 2009 at 10:57 AM
If you listen to Rush, he will tell you that he is a radio talk show host. Occasionally he will make grandiose remarks in a pronounced baritone to define the reality from the performance, a ploy so that none can say he is serious. The fact that Mr. Obama would even mention an entertainer in a serious conversation on the course of the governing of our country is really unsettling. If he is as smart as the world thinks he is, it is a mistake he will not repeat. He needs to ratchet down that ego.
Cindy Munford on January 24, 2009 at 11:13 AM
Yeah. And don’t think Obama wont use TARP as a way to peel congressmen away from Pelosi and towards the White House. Obama can offer a lot of pork to certain districts if those congressmen vote the right way. The potential abuse with TARP, while having the justice department, by any administration is staggering. Consider something, if TARP II happens, and the estimates of $700 bill. Or higher are close, then the executive branch will have had nearly as much redistributive power in the course of a year as the entire Congress…yeah let that sink in.
Weight of Glory on January 24, 2009 at 11:14 AM
That’s a good assessment of Obama.

This would be great theater if we could be an innocent audience.
Cindy Munford on January 24, 2009 at 11:29 AM
Heh. Glad I’m not the only one.
Weight of Glory on January 24, 2009 at 11:31 AM
I think Rush would love to push Hussein to the brink so that he tries to enact the censorship doctrine. That type of fascism my just be the wake-up call that conservatives need (an non-conservatives for that matter).
BrianA on January 24, 2009 at 11:34 AM
TARP is nothing more than a gigantic heist. Our hard earned wealth to be used for US and Global reparations.
katy on January 24, 2009 at 11:39 AM
BrianA on January 24, 2009 at 11:34 AM
In spite of what Obama has said in the past, it’s fairly clear that he has every intention of enacting the Censorship Doctrine or some version of “localism,” which will have the same effect.
Check out this NRO article wherein Eric Holder’s evasive tap-dance around Specter’s and Sessions’ questioning on this very issue makes it quite clear what this administration’s intent is.
Talk radio and some blogs are all we have. Unless some blue-dog dems come to the rescue, we are screwed.
IrishEi on January 24, 2009 at 11:42 AM
“noneya”
guys, don’t feed the troll. Ignore this chick.
Rush would wipe the floor with him.
LtE126 on January 24, 2009 at 11:51 AM
Spector is a RINO. He an others need something hideous to kick their asses and wake up. Spending, debt and deficits surely isn’t going to do it.
BrianA on January 24, 2009 at 11:52 AM
I wonder if Rush will say something about Obama’s ears on Monday. heh
aikidoka on January 24, 2009 at 11:55 AM
Specter might have a conservative challenger in the primary in 2010. There was an interestong essay by Rick Santorum recently, commenting on this. Specter only survived the primary in 2004 because of Bush’s support and Santorum’s. Specter didn’t return the favor when Santorum ran, but kept his distnace (doing one lame radio commercial. That after he’d said Santorum’s re-relection would be his top priority.)
Keep an eye on Specter. He may move to the right until 2010. (Of course if re-elected, he’ll be a RINO again.).
Wethal on January 24, 2009 at 11:59 AM
I wonder if Santorum might be the primary challenger?
Matt Helm on January 24, 2009 at 12:03 PM
Matt, Santorum is looking at running for governor. Fast Eddy Rendell is finishing his second term, so the race is wide open. AG Tom Corbett is also a possible GOP contender for governor.
Wethal on January 24, 2009 at 12:10 PM
Yep, Obama is thin skinned. HA! Go ahead, Big O! Pick that fight with Rush. You cannot win.
Oink on January 24, 2009 at 12:19 PM
Sorry Brian A. for not being more clear. My comments weren’t directed at you, but at libertarians who cozy up to anti-semites. Your comments I enjoy.
JiangxiDad on January 24, 2009 at 12:25 PM
I hope this suckers Obama into the fairness doctrine, because if I understand the economics of the fairness doctrine, they can’t write a law to take Rush off the air, they can only punish his radio stations.
But I suspect Rush is smarter than Obama, and Rush can work his advertising model so that any affiliate that carries him will do just fine, with or without the fairness doctrine.
Inevitably, Rush will remain on the air. Every time Obama swings and misses he will be diminished, and Rush’s stature will increase.
It’s a lose-lose for The Chosen One.
jeff_from_mpls on January 24, 2009 at 12:40 PM
I can trust my kids life with RUSH. I can’t say the same for Hussaini.
Maria Fotos on January 24, 2009 at 1:18 PM
You’re not alone in that. The only thing more awesome is when Levin has Fred Thompson on. LOL
ihasurnominashun on January 24, 2009 at 1:38 PM
agree 100%, hes an entertainer first. personally i dont know if he believes half of the things he comes first, but if it gets him attention/more listeners, he’ll say it (and there’s nothing wrong with that, because it’s usually correct and proves his point). That is until he starts talking about sarah palin and makes chris matthews “tingle up my leg” comment look absolutely tame by comparison.
lolwut on January 24, 2009 at 2:05 PM
YES.
herrevery on January 24, 2009 at 2:47 PM
You do realize that Matthews claims to be objective? That’s the reason “tingle up my leg” went viral, because this guy is supposed to be a “journalist.” Limbaugh is a conservative. He’s supposed to gush about other real conservatives.
jimmy the notable on January 24, 2009 at 2:57 PM
if masturbation is gushing, then ok
lolwut on January 24, 2009 at 3:46 PM
Nope. An entertainer invariably comes at it from the stand point of wanting to be liked. Nobody could seriously say that’s why Rush does what he does. In fact no one speaks more convincingly about the futility (and the danger!) that arises from ones motivation to want to be liked.
While we’re at it, how much more of a people pleaser could you ask for than Pres-O?
There’s your real entertainer.
