“He called me yesterday and said it’s not in the cards,” said Nashville businessman B.C. “Scooter” Clippard, a close Thompson associate who headed fundraising for Thompson’s presidential campaign. Clippard said Thompson chose to remain in the private sector, working to resume his television acting career.

RNC chair would actually entail ‘working’

I’m glad actually. I like Fred and all but I can never take the man seriously. He always comes off as an actor playing a part.

Good.

Make way for Steele!
Let’s see if the RNC fudges this up and nominates a nobody. Steele is a great person to represent the RNC.

It does sound like it’s going to be Michael Steele. I sure haven’t heard any other names mentioned except for Newt and Fred of course.
I’m going to say something and I don’t want anyone to take it the wrong way, but you know Snerdly is Rush’s official Obama criticizer? Well, Michael Steele… Don’t yell at me! I know he’s SOOOOOOO much more than that, but it will help.
Don’t yell at me.

nice to see the fred-hatahs out in force …
/eyeroll
/fwiw, i’d rather Mike than fred but could have lived with it …

Ain’t no hatin’, Buck!
I dig Fred! It’s just that hearing The Boss, Glen & Helen, and the rest involved with the “Conservatism 2.0″ discussion in the last couple of days – everyone agrees that the Right has to whip out a big ole can of Spunk that the Old Guard just is not capable of marketing.

If only the position were RNC La-Z-Boy…
benny shakar on November 21, 2008 at 1:45 AM
i wuz referring more to the “actual working” and “nap” comments …
/and yes, while i am a moderate fredhead surely one of his top drawbacks is he does not exactly represent “forward vision” …
Buckaroo on November 21, 2008 at 1:51 AM
I won’t try to convince anyone he is brimmin’ with Spunk, but Fred can articulate Conservative principles in a way that gets across to both intellectuals and the every day guy. I have always been impressed with him, and hope he is still out there in the public doing so, even if not as a full time party representative.
Regarding the “actual working” and “nap” comments, you may have a valid criticism, but there is something about Fred that has always inspired me.
