Sarah Palin can honestly say, on a national level now, that the press has not vetted Obama like they have vetted her. Many undecideds have seen the depth of the MSM’s scrutiny of her, and the lack of scrutiny of Obama. If the press tries to say otherwise, she can and probably will laugh at them….and call them out.

I was discussing this with someone yesterday. I asked him if, as a Christian, he would seek out nothing but Muslim friends and roommates in college, and he said no. He wouldn’t hesistate to befriend a Muslim (I have Muslim neighbors who are friends, myself), but he wouldn’t surround himself with Muslims. That just makes sense to me.
And yet, Obama’s identifiable friends from school were all Muslims, it seems, who won’t talk about it much because they “don’t want to hurt” (according to The Seattle Times) Obama’s chances. These include the young man he went to Pakistan to see, on his Indonesian passport. One of his college friends lives in Seattle, and has the same surname (though I couldn’t say whether there is a connection at all) as the most identifiable spokesmen for the Islamic community there. (For all I know, Siddiqi is like “Smith” – so I don’t read a lot into that, I just find it interesting.)
This is just all very strange…and I can’t believe no one in the media is remotely curious about it, yet they are concerned about Governor Palin’s tanning bed.
It’s a nightmare.

Maybe they’ll say “Read the New York Times – those perfectly objective observers say we’re clean!” Regardless, every time he has to say “I am not a terrorist-enabler, really” is a bad day for his campaign, and gives Palin et al a chance to say, “Uh, yes you are, really.”

That just leaves the MSM to push the story(and they wont) or the McCain campaign (and until now haven’t shown that much interest in going in this direction). I hope Palin stays on this, because that would force the media to focus on it, if for no other reason than to defend him, but it places Obama on defense, and that is always good.

This is not a man who sees America as you and I do – as the greatest force for good in the world. I really hope you are correct, but I have my doubts.
So walk around with a raincloud over your head. Or borrow AP’s. But consider this: Six weeks ago, would you have given McCain any chance at all to win? How about now?
The real underlying issue here is not that Osama Obama palled around with Ayers. Even his own lame excuses make it clear he did.
The nut of the thing lies in why? If Obama’s philosophies were so far removed from Ayers’s, even the lure of spreading other people’s money around should not have been enough. Cagey pol that Obama is, he would have known the risks.
Unless, that is, Obama bought/buys into Ayers’s slimy beliefs.
I think he does. And I think that disqualifies him for the presidency, all by itself.
If anyone in the MSM has the guts to blow the whistle, The Messiah is toast.
Way to go, Sarah. Now, please use his full name every time when referring to Obama – - Barack HUSSEIN Obama.

I want to see a McCain television ad that ends with the question, “So who will Barack Obama be palling around with in 40 years?” followed by an image of osama bin laden. Obama’s “I was 8″ excuse is pretty damn thin.
Had Ayers’ terrorist activities occurred AFTER he and Barack had “their association,” there would be merit to Obama’s denunciation. As Obama knew that Ayers was a member of a group that murdered police and bombed to elicit terror when we BEGAN “their association,” the denunciation isn’t worth the gunpowder to blow it to Hell. Somebody ::cough Sarah cough:: needs to put that logic before the American people.

I completely disagree with all this “detail” everyone keeps asking for. We don’t need 3min dissertations with footnotes to make people think or doubt their choice. What we need is 30 sec spots along the lines of “Ayers is a former terrorist. (show pictures) He never recanted his positions. Ayer threw a party for BO. (show pictures) nuff said. Hit them with tons of this kind of stuff and don’t bother to defend it. When the MSM goes bonkers with the “no proof” angle just come out with another ad about one of the many other questionable things about BO.
People will be bored with long and detailed explanations and the liberals know this and that is why they go for the “bumper sticker” slogans. They have pushed the conservatives into thinking we need to give a collage level course to explain our position while they get away with “Bush lied and kids died.” I don’t’ need to know a detailed account of McCain tax votes. All I need to see is Biden accusing McCain of voting for taxes and spew two different numbers within the same breath for how many times he voted. We sit back and talk about short attention spans of people and then demand lengthily and detailed, read boring, explanations.
jmarcure on October 4, 2008 at 4:44 PM
This article is so disgusting. The outright obsfucations! Hilarious. The writer practically twists in knots to bury the story of the connection. Tries to discredit the assertion that Obama has many radical ties by saying that these are from discredited emails about him not being a citizen and those that say he’s a Muslim. Unbelievable!
I get my blood pressure up reading sh*t like this. She needs to keep saying it. Get it out there every chance she gets. Tell everyone that Obama likes to say that they aren’t friends, yet his political career was launched in Ayers kitchen. “When I ran for City Council, my BEST friend held my first fundraiser for me. Yet, he disavows a friendship w/this unrepentant terrorist. I think there is alot more to this story than the media is telling…” Or something like that. It doesn’t have to be long, or too detailed, just hit on it every day on the trail!

Yeah, and this is how they covered it:
While it is known that Obama and Ayers live in the same Chicago neighborhood, served on a charity board together and had a fleeting political connection, it’s a stretch of any reading of the public record to say the pair ever palled around. And it’s simply wrong to suggest that they were associated while Ayers was committing terrorist acts.
This is the mass media meme regarding this issue. They are going to blow it off.
I really don’t think these attacks are going to matter anymore. If the country sees nothing wrong with Obama going to a Black Supremacist, America-hating church for 20 years, then I really don’t know what will hurt Obama. If a Republican was found to have gone to a White Supremacist, America-hating Church for 20 years, their political career would be over. But Obama gets off the hook. Simply ridiculous.
At this point, I really don’t even know what is going to work to get people to open their eyes about Obama.

Obama and Ayers met at meeting for a school reform project in 1995 and again later that year. Then, Ayers hosted an event where then-Illinois state Sen. Alice Palmer, who planned to run for Congress, introduced the young community organizer as her chosen successor, campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said. Both men also served on a charitable board together, he said.
advertisement
Labolt also said the two have not spoken by phone or exchanged e-mail messages since Obama came to the U.S. Senate in 2005 and last met more than a year ago when they encountered each other on the street in their Hyde Park neighborhood.
This means that they have spoken on the phone and email before 2005. Something that the Obama camp originally denied when first asked about this relationship.
This is a substantial reversal, is it not?

From the article at the topic link:
“What’s clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy,” Obama campaign spokesman Hari Sevugan said in a statement.
What’s clear is that advisors of Obama are primarily responsible for the sub-prime meltdown (yes you, Barney, Maxine and friends).
Palin’s remark about Obama “palling around with terrorists” comes as e-mails circulate on the Internet with suggestions that the Democratic candidate is secretly a radical, foreign-born Muslim with designs against the U.S. — even though Obama is a native of Hawaii, a Christian and has no connections to Muslim extremists.
The last phrease is interesting; it’s a dodge. The terrorists in question are Ayres and Dohrn.
But Jim Kuhnhenn, Associated Press Writer seems to know this; a paragraph later:
“The escalated effort to attack Obama’s character dovetails with TV ads by outside groups questioning Obama’s ties to Ayers, …”
Jim’s trying hard to spin the public away from seeing the truth about Obama.

Someone needs to get in the face of some mass media pundit and flat out ask them how they would feel were it revealed that John McCain had a working relationship with an unrepentant abortion clinic bomber. Imagine the stammering by the pundit after that question is posed to them and them trying to explain away Ayers then.
This needs to be put into proper perspective. Someone needs to say it. The mass media and the Left cannot continue to get away with the obvious double-standard here. And Palin is the perfect one to go out there and do this. She can address two things in fact. She can say something like
“Imagine if during all the digging around the mass media is doing into my life, they found out that I had a working relationship with an unrepentant former abortion clinic bomber. What would you all be saying then? Would you let me off the hook for that as you let Obama off the hook for Ayers?”
This would be perfect, because it would get people to not only start thinking about Obama and Ayers, but also about the ridiculous double-standards in reporting in the mass media.
Come on McCain campaign, get with it here and get this new meme into the minds of Americans and into the reporting of the mass media. Force the mass media to admit that were this the other way around (White Supremacist Church, working with unrepentant abortion clinic bomber), they would have destroyed the McCain/Palin campaign.
Jim’s trying hard to spin the public away from seeing the truth about Obama.

Imagine the stammering by the pundit after that question is posed to them and them trying to explain away Ayers then.
Her comments are extremely offensive to me, a victim of 9/11 because they knock over my idol, Barack Obama.

What would the Left and the media have done if McCain had any connection at all to the Unabomber? Give me a break, they’d be all over that shit. With Obama, they’re getting all incensed for merely mentioning that he worked together with a former domestic terrorist for years.
First they downplayed his pastor, as if he hadn’t been his pastor for 20 years. Now they’re going to downplay this as “oh, they just had a few meetings together”.
I am so God damn sicked and tired of this BS. The media is completely in the tank for the Democrats, and they always are. They are subverting democracy with their partisan shell game for Obama. Why doesn’t the country deserve to know less positive things about Obama as they apparently deserve to know about McCain’s alleged affairs with lobbyist women?
That guy in Newsweek, forget his name, was absolutely right: the media gives the Democrats 10-15 points in each election with their insane coverage. Without the media covering for Obama at every damn point, he’d have been a lost cause ages ago.
Bill Clinton is speechless for the length of a 30-second TV commercial.
That’s what makes it so jarring! Ever seen Bill speechless before? Only when saying “I do” iirc (i kid).

Are you kidding? He didn’t just meet with him, he launched his campaign from his home. He worked with him. He worked for him. He gave money to his favs. He took money from him. Obama says “well it was years ago.” Aires has never refuted his position. Wake up before it’s too late for this country. Look at the people he has associated with! Is there any one of them you would be proud to call close friends?

petefrt on October 4, 2008 at 7:10 PM
What could cause such sensitivity?
– A close personal relationship? Perhaps, but Wright was tossed under the bus.
– How about money? I recall that, of the $100,000 to be spent on some Chicago neighborhood botanical gardens, that involved Obama, something like $80,000 seems to have disappeared.
Fast forward a few years: Obama an Ayres are doling out $50million (+matching funds?) to, among other people, their friends. Implicitly, most of the money is for services and salaries, not real estate or equipment.
Years later, they have nothing to show for the money.
How do Ayres’ and Obama’s friends, some of whose money he distributed, feel about this?
What would a strict accounting show?
Perhaps Stanley Kurtz will find out.
I suddenly have this image of the botanical garden now.

The Ayers relationship is a COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE ISSUE…
“Obama partnered with a left-wing radical former terrorist with 150 million dollars to give out and bring change he accomplished jack with it…” then bring up how the money was spent…
whenever they bring up swiftboating, Palin brings up astroturfing…
ffs, I hope they don’t think they can just drop bombs and leave… that’s not how these things work…
I hope the crats bring up the Keating 5 in response. McCain was cleared and uses that as a learning experience about the corrupting influence of money in politics. He’ll likely discuss it openly and make them look stupid for bringing it up. By contrast, Barry can’t allow any in depth look at his relationship with Ayers. If you’ve read the Kurtz column about Annenberg you know how bad it looks for Barry. Spending millions upon millions on radical indoctrination attempts with nothing to show for it. Yeah, that looks good. Also, what can Barry possibly say? Associating with Ayers taught him not to work with unrepentant terrorists? Why the hell is that something he didn’t know instinctually? I hope to hell it works, but even if it doesn’t at least people will know about it.
For what it’’s worth, my non-political (though liberal leaning) brother in PA has no idea who Ayers and Rezko are. Told him he will soon.

I have to think the strategy with Palin was McCain’s getting into Obama’s “operating loop”. Have Palin do interviews with hostile media, drawing out how biased the media is. Expectations are lowered, as people begin to wonder how “qualified” she is.
Then, BAM. Great debate, as a record 70 million pairs of eyes are watching. Now, that she has national attention again and people correctly perceive her as being “Reagaesque”, attack Obama on all the material the MSM is suppressing.
Give the polls one week, and we will see them trend toward McCain. This is the start of the national awakening to Obama’s Chicago Thug character.

Obama worked much more closely with Weatherman bomber Bill Ayers than the media is

Perfect – I hope you’re right. He and his campaign have in the past been hypersensitive on this one. Maybe they’ll say “Read the New York Times – those perfectly objective observers say we’re clean!” Regardless, every time he has to say “I am not a terrorist-enabler, really” is a bad day for his campaign, and gives Palin et al a chance to say, “Uh, yes you are, really.”

fred5678 on October 4, 2008 at 3:37 PM
We need more info to come out about it, otherwise the story is going nowhere. All aspects of the New Media have been on it, and I think there has been a saturation point in that regard. That just leaves the MSM to push the story(and they wont) or the McCain campaign (and until now haven’t shown that much interest in going in this direction). I hope Palin stays on this, because that would force the media to focus on it, if for no other reason than to defend him, but it places Obama on defense, and that is always good.

Had Ayers’ terrorist activities occurred AFTER he and Barack had “their association,” there would be merit to Obama’s denunciation.

Oh, and just how are you a “victim of 9/11″, token leftist? Pardon my skepticism…but just last night, you were spouting the “Jesus was a community” whatever line, which, in light of the fact that I’m a Christian, offends me.
Let’s hear it. How are you more of a victim of 9/11 than anyone else, and why, if you are, would you be advocating here for Obama every damned day?

Of course they are, Phil. Just like Olberman. If she wished you Merry Christmas you’d be offended, too. Suck it!

She needs to come out “to clarify” that Ayers helped launch Obama’s political career by holding the first Obama fund raising event at Ayers house. Something the AP didn’t mention.

platypus on October 4, 2008 at 6:15 PM
Yeah, and this is how they covered it:
This is the mass media meme regarding this issue. They are going to blow it off.
I really don’t think these attacks are going to matter anymore. If the country sees nothing wrong with Obama going to a Black Supremacist, America-hating church for 20 years, then I really don’t know what will hurt Obama. If a Republican was found to have gone to a White Supremacist, America-hating Church for 20 years, their political career would be over. But Obama gets off the hook. Simply ridiculous.
At this point, I really don’t even know what is going to work to get people to open their eyes about Obama.

Blue collar Dems & Independents, and you damn well know it. Ayers & Axelrod confer on how to address this, just as Ayers & Rolling conferred on the Challenge papers at the University. FOIA is a wonderful thing, right phil? Civil Servants will be kept gainfully employed filling requests if this Coverup King and his loyal Car Salesman sidekick get in.
rhodeymark on October 4, 2008 at 6:29 PM
Whoa!!
From the CNN story linked here:
CNN Palin Hits Obama…
This means that they have spoken on the phone and email before 2005. Something that the Obama camp originally denied when first asked about this relationship.
This is a substantial reversal, is it not?
cryptojunkie on October 4, 2008 at 6:29 PM
Most folks don’t even know about Ayers – this one has to get out around the gatekeepers. You are too plugged-in to understand. Let folks see that flag stomp picture, and watch his negatives soar. Plus, it will bring Rev Wright back to mind again in the booth.

philnewkirk on October 4, 2008 at 6:35 PM
Jim’s trying hard to spin the public away from seeing the truth about Obama.

mikeyboss on October 4, 2008 at 6:59 PM
Someone needs to get in the face of some mass media pundit and flat out ask them how they would feel were it revealed that John McCain had a working relationship with an unrepentant abortion clinic bomber. Imagine the stammering by the pundit after that question is posed to them and them trying to explain away Ayers then.
This needs to be put into proper perspective. Someone needs to say it. The mass media and the Left cannot continue to get away with the obvious double-standard here. And Palin is the perfect one to go out there and do this. She can address two things in fact. She can say something like
This would be perfect, because it would get people to not only start thinking about Obama and Ayers, but also about the ridiculous double-standards in reporting in the mass media.
Michael in MI on October 4, 2008 at 7:09 PM

You must be a college kid, or an employee of a college.
Bambi on October 4, 2008 at 8:15 PM

Meme this team “COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE ISSUE”
“COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE ISSUE”
“COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE ISSUE”
“COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE ISSUE”
“COMPLETELY LEGITIMATE ISSUE”
then pivot into how he has lied about it…
I have a memeline…
“Obama partnered with a left-wing radical former terrorist with 150 million dollars to give out and bring change he accomplished jack with it…” then bring up how the money was spent…
whenever they bring up swiftboating, Palin brings up astroturfing…
ffs, I hope they don’t think they can just drop bombs and leave… that’s not how these things work…
ninjapirate on October 4, 2008 at 8:34 PM

ninjapirate on October 4, 2008 at 8:36 PM

Oh, believe me – I understand your point. I’m just saying that when she makes a point of this on the stump, and it gets covered (by the AP, and now CNN – probably others), there’s at least the opportunity to bring the topic into the national conversation. The news media won’t bring it up without being pointed in the ribs with a stick – so let’s poke them, and see where we can take it from there.
capitalist piglet on October 4, 2008 at 9:22 PM
I would submit that befriending and associating professionally with domestic terrorists would be a bit more significant that simply “meeting” some garden-variety “controversial figures”.
So would you I’ll bet, if we weren’t talking about Obama.
capitalist piglet on October 4, 2008 at 9:26 PM

That means if everyone passes on an email it goes to all after 5 forwards, Ever get several copies of the same joke? See how it works.
