Looks The Obama is showing a miniscule amount of lip service for some class to be shown. Maybe he means it, maybe he doesn’t but at least he said it.
SouthernGent on September 1, 2008 at 3:16 PM
I’m stunned that this Time reporter knew all weekend about Bristol’s pregnancy — thanks to the open guilelessness of the people of Wasilla — and he didn’t rush to publish the “scoop.” It was a very, very nice article that makes these small-town Alaskans seem less like rubes and more like a supportive extended family for the governor.
Click on his name at the top of the article and send a quick note thanking him for this piece.
Very surreal reading something like this in Time.
carbon_footprint on September 1, 2008 at 3:22 PM
He should also be thanked for showing the character not to leak this story while knowing it all weekend. He would have been a household name had he done it. Instead, just an honest, refreshing journalist who has integrity.
I also add that I wouldn’t be the least surprised if Barry’s reaction is due to his fear of Piper Palin making his head ’spoled into flames just by looking at him.
Actually B.O. has just pissed off Hillary supporters for speaking out about this, while standing by when MSNBC and his surroagates were taking what they perceive as unfair shots at Hillary.

Sarah Palin is a longterm member of a group called Feminists for Life, which is not opposed to birth control. So you probably can’t tag her for consigning young people to unwanted pregnancies.
This is key. I’ve already heard the whole, “See!!! Abstinence-only teachings cause teenage pregnancy!”
I’ve never rolled my eyes so hard as when the whole, “Only republicans can get away with sex scandals and remain viable in politics.”

That’s because “birth control” means preventing conception, not preventing birth. Killing a baby is not “birth control.” It’s a bit too late once conception has occurred. Many of us pro-life Christians have no problem whatsoever with birth control that prevents conception. It’s when people try to define methods that destroy an embryo or fetus after conception has already occurred as “birth control” that we object.
I liked Obama’s statement, except for the Clintonian parsing that “there’s no evidence” anybody in his campaign has anything to do with the crazy Kos rumors. But yeah, he did good.
Time loves this story. Bout time we got a few puff-pieces to balance out their Obama stuff.

I’m not familiar with what’s all available out there now, but at least some routine dosage birth control pills work by preventing embryo implantation in the endometrium. I would disagree with your statement that “birth control” means preventing conception, not preventing birth. That’s why I find this whole argument so confusing. I’m quite sure many solid pro-lifers routinely use oral birth control

Hey AP- you wanted to know if Palin was a “trap” set by team Maverick- uhm I think we can now conclude, yes. Yes she was.
Rove you magnificant bastard!

That is the most Bullshit article, I thought I was reading one of Allahpundits posts her.
Mentions the pregnancy 4 times, and says it should not be political.

The real news here is the attitude of the MSM reporter.

My thought exactly. This is a warm and balanced story in the most unlikely of places.

Heh. See my Mom was wrong when she told me how babies were made. It’s abstinence only teaching, not men-woman nekkidness, etc. Good to know, good to know.

When I first heard about the pregnancy I was disappointed, but then I thought, “What would I do if one of my kids came to me with this?” and I knew exactly what I’d do- I’d deal with it. We’d deal with it. We wouldn’t cry, and hide it, we’d deal with it. That’s the kind of VP I want- actually that’s the kind of GOVERNMENT I want. Figure it out and deal with it. Honestly and with strength.

This Time reporter, Nathan Thornburgh, deserves a honors for keeping this to himself for days, then filing a descent report after the Palin’s announcement.

I’m glad that her daughter didn’t get an abortion.
Chakra Hammer on September 1, 2008 at 6:26 PM
Her daughter and her future husband are taking responsibility for a life, like mothers and fathers are supposed to do.
An Abortion is killing a life and taking an easy way out, cutting a running from responsibility, however you will have to live with the rest of your life knowing that you in fact killed a life.
Blowback

There are degrees of hunting and fishing and snobbery really has no place in it.
I love to fish. Love it. I will bait my own hook but I do not clean the fish. Don’t want to.
Same thing the few times I have been hunting. I have no desire what so ever to dress out a deer.
So I wasn’t hunting or fishing if I don’t do it the “right” way?
