If it’s not just about ratings, what, then, is it about? Simple: It’s about MSNBC moving sharply to the left. This isn’t a Eureka observation — pretty much all the coverage has acknowledged that. As Carter said, “A program hosted by Ms. Maddow will almost certainly be a closer ideological fit with Mr. Olbermann’s”; Abrams, on the other hand, is not “as overt a partisan” (though saying that his show was more about “legal than political issues” is a misnomer, considering the preponderance of political stories in the A and B blocks, plus features like “Why America Hates Washington” and “Winners and Losers,” which tallied the day’s political scorecard).

This is an excellent read.
And the excuse by HuffPost on why they decided to squash the story – that it looks at the press through a too partisan left/right lens – is patently absurd.
Arianna’s a big Olbermann fan. My guess – just a wild one – is she didn’t want this running, dahling.

who the hell are these people, and what the hell is a MSNBC?

The device has yet to be invented to measure how little i give a shit about msnbc or rachel maddow or keith O. I only know that when he comes on the TV at halftime of Sunday Night Football on NBC, I turn the channel until the 3rd Q kickoff. Olby for me is an instant channel changer, like Bill Maher.

The Huffington Post doesn’t like viewing things from a left/right prism? Yeah right. And I’m Hayden Panettiere.

Sklar’s explanation on why the piece was originally rejected:
And I’m sure Keith Olbermann would agree.

That is the way liberals often like to portray themselves – not leftists in thought, just correct. And if there ever is a fairness doctrine, that is how it will be applied.

Well, let’s substitute the term ideologues – from either end of the spectrum – for “liberals”.
I have some liberal friends/colleagues who think Olbermann’s a kook. Sure, they detest Bush; but they think Olbermann is just a clown.
Rightly so.

News flash msnbc is changing its name to the DNC channel. CNN will now be DNC2.

Well, if there were any doubts about how arrogant Olberdouche really is, let them be cast aside. What an ass.

For pretty much the same exact reason that The New York Times rejected McCain, telling him “thanks for the rough draft, now, get back to us with the real article, thanks.”
Because they are fair and balanced, objective journalists, that’s why.

I read HuffPo very regularly, for the same reason the NSA monitors phonecalls from Pakistan. OK, maybe it’s for the entertainment value.too. Anyway, Sklar is one of the most moderate columnists there. She’s liberal, but rational–not a feces flinger.
Obviously, KO must have attained untouchable status at HuffPo if HuffPo is nixing an informative article like this one.
