That’s the implicit message of the headline posting, but the fact is that he’s a former Senator, a former third-tier candidate, and this is a rumor of a hetero affair sans death, solicitation, sexual harassment, perjury, quid pro quo, etc. It’s common, it’s boring, it’s unverified. In other words, this is National Enquirer material.
So far The Enquirer is using stock photos of Edwards. If they “surprised” him coming off the elevator, running up a flight of stairs, and fleeing into a bathroom – please give us photos of him coming off an elevator, running up a flight of stairs, and fleeing into a bathroom.

MSM sweeps the story under the rug because they fear it may be true.
They need a hook. Something like a wide stance. Now if Edwards had locked himself in a janitor closet to evade the NE reporters, then they would have covered it.
What I don’t understand is don’t the NE reporters have cell phones that take vid or are they holding that for the follow up story?
Dusty on July 23, 2008 at 8:57 PM
Because nobody believes it.
I believe the story (or most of it).
I just don’t believe the Enquirer has the story.

I think Edwards just gave confirmation the story is true. When asked to comment, he essentially said, “I don’t talk about tabloid articles, those magazines are full of lies.” He didn’t say, “this article about me was a malicious lie” or “they have libelled/slandered me”. Edwards the lawyer gave the answer, Clintonesque through and through, that we would expect if he were guilty of said actions. I’m now highly confident he is.

I think there’s a couple of reasons why we haven’t seen the pics yet…
Why would I buy the paper(rag)edition at the check out when I could get them and the whole story for free on the interwebs..
And maybe they are fishing for some hush up money…who knows?
Mebbe money has already changed hands??
Or mebbe it’s a total Crock…

Here’s my question: Which story gets more attention, the one that the blogs run with but the mainstream news ignores, or the one the news picks up but the blogs ignore? At this point I’d say the news wins, but just barely. And at this rate, not for long.
I believe in soid evidence. In the article published, it states that Enq.’s ‘photographer’ was there…where’s da pics?

They’re not show pics because they want this to be a 3 week news cycle story not a one week. They’ll have pics in the weekend print edition and more in the next. Lead up, initial and subsequent.

He’s a 3rd rate has-been senator with a stupid accent. The only way he’s going to sell a sex story is if a barnyard animal is involved.

They sure have a lot of excuses for the MSM to ignore this story but I would say the biggest reason is because he has a (D) after his name.

Uh, because he’s a Democrat? There was less evidence of an affair between McCain and the lobbyist, but the MSM had no problem touting that.

It’s a real conundrum.
WisCon on July 23, 2008 at 8:15 PM
Short answer? Because he’s D-NC, not R-NC.
dmh0667 on July 23, 2008 at 8:16 PM
Same reason they won’t print the Larry Sinclar story. Like dmh stated: D-NC instead of R-NC.

Yes, they’ve occasionally broken stories but so has Olbermann.
Well, not really; but the comparison is apt.
