The AP photo of Obama at the Guardian site has a hallo around his head.
A red one.
Who knew?

I thought the woman was that 60s/70s radical Angela something.
davidk on July 13, 2008 at 7:54 PM
Angela Davis.
davidk on July 13, 2008 at 7:55 PM
This is satire, could have fooled me.
Engrpat on July 13, 2008 at 7:57 PM
I thought it was pretty funny honestly, although I can see how Obama could find it offensive and unnecessary. Satirizing those kinds of smears can also lend them greater publicity.

You’re basically the punchline to the joke.

Well, now, who the H*ll cares if Mr. Barackichelle HUSSEIN Obama is offended by a cover! I think GWB has dealt with far worse than this, and just went on with his breakfast. Uhhh-bama can just STFU.

UPDATE to the UPDATE — McCain spokesman Tucker “Outward” Bounds quickly e-mailed: “We completely agree with the Obama campaign, it’s tasteless and offensive.”
I agree, it is tasteless and offensive. May I have 3 copies, please?

Think it is a good likeness of Michelle.
Wade on July 13, 2008 at 8:39 PM
An offensive, childish and inappropriate smear hiding behind a horribly lame attempt at humour.
Dave Rywall on July 13, 2008 at 9:00 PM
UhhhBama has so much more to work with…this is weak. Would Michelle really cling to a gun like that? Nahhh…and how is this helping her kids?

Cry Baby… what’r'ya going to do? Pull a Bill Klinton and have them arrested? Get used to it….

I bet you a donut this pic wont be the cover
when the mag hits the streets.

The Obama camp certainly whine like Muslims.
I thought a simple picture of a tuxedo fleshed out with no visible means of support would be more true to what saner people are afraid of Obama for.

davidk on July 13, 2008 at 7:55 PM, yep, Angela davis, she is now and has been for years a college professor at U.C. some place…tenured of course.
The Obama camp certainly whine like Muslims.

“But most readers will see it as tasteless and offensive. And
we agree.”
Yeah, almost as tasteless and offensive as you saying your opponents will use bring up your race in the contest. And this was, again, your ideological brethren using it. LMAO.
Why is it the left has so much trouble with satire that nobody on their side gets it when others on their side use it????
Dusty on July 13, 2008 at 10:24 PM
BTW, is this just the second time he’s used this method of complaining — people think X and we agree — or have there been more?
Dusty on July 13, 2008 at 10:38 PM
I couldn’t believe it when I saw it, since I know the New Yorker is so leftist. But yes, making fun of the rumors … OK, I might buy that. But I KNOW a lot of the readers won’t. Can’t wait to see next issue’s letters to the editor.
I recall a cover a year or two back in which Bush’s face was on the famous Saddam statue that was pulled over by the people. It infuriated me that anyone would compare Bush to a murderous thug like Saddam. But hey, maybe the New Yorker was making fun of BDS … what are the odds? /sarc
