FINALLY: 'Accountant 2' On the Way

Directed by Gavin O’Connor, with a screenplay by Bill Dubuque, The Accountant stars Affleck as a sort of autistic superhero figure. Christian (Affleck) is autistic, and highly sensitive to certain triggers. His father responds by training him in various martial arts, and encouraging him to face his triggers head-on. He runs a small accountant office as a front for a family money laundering operation.

What could possibly go wrong?

Even though the movie was a box office hit when it opened in 2016, and even though the ending clearly left the door open for a sequel or two, it’s taken a long time for The Accountant 2 to finally get off the ground. The follow-up film has been in development hell for nearly seven years—but now, finally, we have some details.

The Accountant is an excellent, if formulaic, action film that seemed primed for an immediate sequel follow-up. Eight years later, it might be a little outside the window for its fan base, although Hollywood's not exactly brimming over with quality content. I'll try to catch this in theaters if it ever comes to fruition.

Next question: Where's the sequel to Salt, an even better-if-formulaic action film that starred Angelina Jolie in top kick-ass mode?
