SF bar alliance moves forward on proof of vaccination, negative COVID test for service

“The SF Bar Owner Alliance is extremely concerned by a recent uptick in cases of Covid-19 among our staff members, especially those who are fully vaccinated,” the group said in a statement Monday. “We believe we are obligated to protect our workers and their families and to offer a safe space for customers to relax and socialize.”

The group said the decision was reached after polling its membership, which indicated that about 85% of the group was generally in favor of requesting proof of vaccination. But it’s up to the bars to decide how β€” and if β€” they put it into practice.

Guests without these verifications can sit outside in parklets or other spaces that are offered outside, the group said.
