Yesterday AP wrote up the cringe-tastic verbal gymnastics performed by Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes in order to avoid admitting that she voted twice for Barack Obama — whose approval rating among Kentucky’s likely voters is upside-down by 24 points. He was kind enough to include a thought I posted to Twitter after watching the video:
Reason why Grimes won’t say “yes” is she doesn’t want ‘yes’ soundbyte clipped into an ad. Instead, her whole answer could be an ad. #KYSen

Her evasive rambling really could make for a devastating ad unto itself, it seemed to me; no bells and whistles necessary. So without further ado, here’s what we came up with in the Townhall offices:For what it’s worth, I’ve been told that Team McConnell has something along these lines in the pipeline. The two-pronged message an ad like this delivers is intuitively clear: As an Obama delegate and partisan Democrat of course she voted for Obama. Her refusal to simply say so is a telling commentary on her opinion of the electorate’s intelligence. By ham-handedly trying to avoid a pro-Obama soundbyte, Grimes confirms that she’s pro-Obama and she appears painfully slippery in doing so. Not a good look. I’ll leave you with a good point from Phil Kerpen, regarding Grimes’ defense of “the sanctity of the ballot box:”
Having trouble squaring Grimy’s newly discovered love of the “sanctity of the ballot box” with her support for card check.

(Special thanks to my Townhall colleague Ky Sisson for editing our imaginary ad).
