Update: Grayson dismisses ‘erratic’ wife after abuse allegation

posted at 5:19 pm on March 4, 2014 by

Weird. He’s always seemed like such a nice, non-crazy guy:

A judge has granted a temporary protective injunction against U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, after his wife filed paperwork accusing the Orlando congressman of shoving and injuring her during an incident this weekend. Lolita Grayson’s petition for the injunction, dated Monday, says her husband pushed her against a door, causing her to fall to the ground, during a confrontation Saturday at their home on Oak Park Road, near Windermere. In a statement, Alan Grayson’s press secretary Lauren Doney wrote that the allegations “are absolutely false, completely unfounded, and clearly designed to vilify and harm Congressman Grayson.” The incident comes just less than two months after Lolita Grayson filed a divorce petition stating that their marriage of nearly 24 years was “irretrievably broken.”

“Completely unfounded,” huh?

Photos filed by Lolita Grayson’s attorneys with the petition show large bruises to her left leg and left shoulder. Her complaint alleges that, “from time to time” in the past, her husband “has battered [her] and the parties’ minor children,” though she has not previously sought an injunction against him…Grayson told his wife, in the presence of their children, that she “would receive nothing” in their divorce and would be left “in the gutter.”

Perhaps Grayson can commiserate with this charmer.  War on women, etc.

UPDATE – Oh my:

Attacking the victim for erratic, unhinged behavior. Consider the source.

UPDATE II – Of course:

He may beat his wife, but at least he supports late-term abortion! Let’s see if this old endorsement survives the current cycle. Allahpundit now has more on the homepage, including a must-see flashback clip of the man himself railing against Republican misogyny.

Gee he seemed like such a nice fellow.

Interesting – the news article doesn’t mention that he’s a DEM…..

dentarthurdent on March 4, 2014 at 5:34 PM

Sounds like a marriage made in heaven. Attention ladies: Alan’s on the available list!!

Deano1952 on March 4, 2014 at 5:39 PM

Mr. Grayson, when did you stop hitting your wife?

blammm on March 4, 2014 at 5:41 PM

“War on Women”

Deafdog on March 4, 2014 at 5:42 PM

But he supports infanticide, so NOW will give him a pass.

blammm on March 4, 2014 at 5:43 PM

dentarthurdent, they get to it…in the 23rd paragraph.

Guy Benson on March 4, 2014 at 5:44 PM

dentarthurdent:
Regarding political affiliation, the article does state that Grayson is a democrat – in the 23rd of 25 paragraphs. Buried, but there, if one is willing to wade through all of the previous verbage.

dentarthurdent, they get to it…in the 23rd paragraph.

Guy Benson on March 4, 2014 at 5:44 PM

Oh – my mistake.
Really – I’m supposed to actually read THAT far to find what would have been in the first sentence if he was a Rethuglican….

dentarthurdent on March 4, 2014 at 5:47 PM

Ok – the big question – If confronted by robbers, would Grayson run away and leave his wife behind to fend for herself?

dentarthurdent on March 4, 2014 at 5:48 PM

Pro-Tip: The name Lolita should be a hint. If she’s only batshit crazy, you are lucky. Stay far, far away.

Same goes for Kimberly.

Naw – I gotta say – clearly the answer is “I haven’t stopped”.

“Mr. Grayson, when did you stop beating your wife?”

“Errr… an hour or so ago? Why, you wanna take a pop at her, too?”

Something tells me this tweet from two days won’t be around for long

blammm on March 4, 2014 at 5:57 PM

Mr. Grayson, when did you stop beating your wife?”

Well, that would be right about the time the restraining order came in.

Tom Servo on March 4, 2014 at 6:00 PM

It’s no small wonder why Grayson is such a critic of Stand Your Ground.

blammm on March 4, 2014 at 6:05 PM

NOW endorsing a political candidate that gas a restraining order against him by his wife. It must be true that the right to abort trumps all other rights.

Techster64 on March 4, 2014 at 6:22 PM

Ah, the time-tested “Nuts and Sluts” defense.

CurtZHP on March 4, 2014 at 6:46 PM

In his defense, she has to be stark raving mad to have lived with him.

jhffmn on March 4, 2014 at 7:26 PM

Grayson’s office: Ms. Grayson’s behavior has become increasingly erratic, and she has demonstrated an alarming disconnect from reality.

So he shoved a woman he believes is disconnected from reality instead of getting her help? How compassionate! What a POS.

jix on March 4, 2014 at 7:49 PM

Grayson: “She’s crazy.”
Judge: “Then you’re arguing that she had to be crazy to marry you?”
Grayson: “No, she married me because I’m such a great, caring individual.”
Judge: “Well, if you’re such a great, caring individual, then why’d you hit her?”
Grayson: “I didn’t hit her. She’s crazy.”

tpitman on March 5, 2014 at 6:02 AM

We should give the ass**le the benefit of the doubt. Grayson’s wife is displaying classic female divorce behavior.

She wants primary custody of the children. By alleging abuse and filing charges, she has slam-dunk case (it’s already pretty easy for the mother to get custody, but this will facilitate things if her fitness as a mother is somewhat open to question).

False allegations of abuse happen all the time in divorce. We may hate the guy, but there is a decent chance he is innocent. There is also a decent chance she is crazy.

Nomennovum on March 5, 2014 at 6:16 AM

It was caused by global warming.

tomas on March 5, 2014 at 7:33 AM

“There is a decent chance that she is crazy. ”
Yeah. And she had somebody beat her up so she could have pics of those bruises. /s

BigAlSouth on March 5, 2014 at 9:15 AM

I don’t like the idea of playing “pile on” in this case. This can easily be a situation where Grayson’s wife is merely playing a system in which women are given carte blanche insofar as making allegations about being battered. It wouldn’t be the first time this has happened to a man. Don’t get me wrong, Grayson represents everything that is evil about contemporary liberalism – a wealthy person whose ignorance cultivates an inner affinity for Marxist ideas. However, just because one of the “white knights” on the liberal side of the aisle may find himself on the business end of politically applied feminist dogma doesn’t mean that we should gleefully cheer his misfortune. Instead, we should celebrate the karma that is being visited upon one of those who have promoted the political application of feminist dogma.

AlFromBayShore on March 5, 2014 at 9:31 AM

…you know if he was a Repub…the media would be hounding him….until he resigned!

KOOLAID2 on March 5, 2014 at 9:36 AM

You know this guy is suppose to have been scammed out of millions of dollars….twice. Originally I thought she was divorcing him while there was still money left to raise their kids, now I’m wondering if he isn’t hiding money from her in an elaborate scheme. I know that’s TV series garbage but he is such a scummy character.

Cindy Munford on March 5, 2014 at 9:51 AM

So he shoved a woman the mother of his children that he believes is disconnected from reality instead of getting her help? How compassionate! What a POS.

jix on March 4, 2014 at 7:49 PM

Just to add a tiny bit of flavor.

Cindy Munford on March 5, 2014 at 9:53 AM

Now we know why Alan Grayson smeared Dan Webster with the “Submit to Me” ad. Being able to tell his wife “You should submit to me” was wish fulfillment for Grayson.

No Truce With Kings on March 5, 2014 at 10:09 AM

He may beat his wife, but at least he supports late-term abortion!

Sadly true, thus pro-lifers will always get tagged with #WarOnWomen and cads like Grayson will skate. (See Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy…)

So, NOW, when did you stop supporting candidates who beat their wives…?

JohnGalt23 on March 5, 2014 at 10:49 AM

Let’s see if this old endorsement survives the current cycle.

Most likely will. I kept an eye on the national NOW’s site during the whole Filthy Filner thing and the only content on their site I ever found on him was endorsements. As far as NOW is concerned, as long as someone is in the right place politically, their personal behavior is completely irrelevant.

LukeinNE on March 5, 2014 at 11:23 AM

Grayson is an embarrassment to the human race.
