The worst on-air technical malfunction evah?

posted at 1:21 pm on February 21, 2014 by

For those of you who watch The Ed Morrissey Show, perhaps not — but at least my entire technical staff consists of me. For Chicago’s WGN, they may as well have had me as their technical staff:

Okay, that was funny, but the hockey game is back on. #GoCanadaGo

Is that Norah O’Donells sister?

BobMbx on February 21, 2014 at 1:37 PM

Keep the audio off… it’s more entertaining.

Maybe they should try to create a healthcare website.

Not a technical malfunction. One of the new FCC monitors in the station decided that the news being broadcast was not appropriate and pulled the plug.

He just missed one. The appropriate people will be sent to remedial education.

The guy in the background doing the mime elevator was priceless.

i love how they handled that. they just had fun instead of getting nervous and panicking! that was very, VERY funny!! 😀

I knew I’d seen those two before. Makes me wonder if they just do crazy stuff of purpose on a regular basis to get attention… Or…are they really just that bad?

The clip seems to be missing above and at the webpage of origin.

That’s nothing compared to our malfunction-in-chief who spews malswear every GD time he opens his venus flytrap.

God love ’em, how often do you get to have fun at your job?

I’m probably too cynical, but this feels like a hoax.

They were better without the sound.

RadClown on February 22, 2014 at 11:57 AM

Appropriately enough, WGN formerly owned a baseball team that hasn’t made the World Series since 1945…

radjah shelduck on February 22, 2014 at 4:53 PM

WGN has the BEST morning show! Robin and Larry are always fun and Tom Skilling is the best weatherman.

The worst on-air technical malfunction evah?

Only if by “worst” you mean “most awesome”.

Yep–there’s no way a bunch of teleprompter addicted empty suits could manage to be that funny on cue. It was scripted.

ElectricPhase on February 23, 2014 at 11:49 AM

I think it is real. WGN, being a large local independent station here in Chicago, can afford to be loose during a technical glitch. The major network stations would have cut to last year’s WNBA finals or something.
