MSNBC, NBC News fall to bottom of PPP trust poll

posted at 6:07 pm on January 30, 2014 by

Drudge had this with a siren on Twitter, and Paul Bedard dutifully noted it at the Washington Examiner, too. In the latest in its regular poll series on media trust, PPP puts NBC News dead last on the trust list — lower than Comedy Central and MSNBC, which tied for second-worst:

35% of Americans say they trust Fox News more than any other TV news outlet, followed by 14% for PBS, 11% for ABC, 10% for CNN, 9% for CBS, 6% each for Comedy Central and MSNBC, and 3% for NBC. It leads the way because of its continuing near total support among Republicans as the place to go for news- 69% of Republicans say it’s their most trusted source with nothing else polling above 7%. Meanwhile Democrats are split between a lot of different outlets when it comes to who they have the most faith in- PBS at 21%, CNN and ABC at 18%, and CBS and MSNBC at 12% all poll in double digits.

MSNBC has trouble keeping up with Fox even while singing to the choir:

It’s interesting that while Fox News and MSNBC are often thought of as equivalent, Fox News is by far and away the most trusted source of GOP voters while MSNBC is only tied for 4th among Democrats.

PPP also flips the question, asking which outlet respondents trust least. Fox also tops that poll, thanks to strong negative reactions, while MSNBC comes in second place. Oddly, NBC falls into a tie for last place there, too, with 2% — which seems to indicate that no one’s taking it very seriously either way. When just asked straight out whether respondents trust NBC News alone, though, the split is 39/39/22 — which is about the same kind of split that all of the other alphabet-networks get. That doesn’t hold for MSNBC (34/44/21), Comedy Central (29/38/33), or PBS, which has a strongly favorable read at 57/24/19.

I think NBC News’ problem is in part their connection to MSNBC. That’s probably why the latter came out so strongly today with an apology; I suspect their News Division cousins are getting fed up with the serial embarrassments emanating from the cable division and may be making their frustrations known.

If they’re polling Comedy Central in regards to media trust, why not Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Lifetime, etc.?

Pretending Comedy Central is a media source to be taken serious is a disservice to our citizens.

Ed. I take it you’ve never watched NBC Evening News with Brian Williams, Today or Meet the Press.

NBC “News” and MSNBC – a distinction without a difference.

The only reason MSNBC “apologized” is because their latest douchbaggery got Reince Priebus’ onesie in a wad, so he stamped his feet and threatened to cut off the supply of GOPe baby seals for them to club on air.

PPP criticizing other polling institutions is laughable. They admit to just making their numbers up.

Errr… criticizing trust of other institutions. Whatever. I’m done here.

I gave up on NBC back in the early 1990s, when there was a pro-gun-control story every day on the Evening News. I gave up on CBS during the first Reagan term, when there was a story every day about the rising numbers of homeless. ABC? probably when David Brinkley retired from the Sunday show. CNN? when I got tired of watching four lefties and one conservative on the Capitol Gang. I was begging the cable company for Fox News Channel at least a year before it was added to the lineup. Now I really don’t watch any TV news, since I have Hot Air!

Start prefacing any mention of NBC or MSNBC with “Comcast owned”. In fact don’t ever mention MSNBC. Just start referring to it as NBC only. I guarantee you if that caught on with talk radio hosts and others Comcast and NBC would hate it.

So they’ve finally slithered their way to the rock bottom of the slime pool, they must be so proud. On the lefty blogs it’s all about why a person should not be fired for saying what they believe is true, that the pres of msnbc should have stood his ground, that the GOP are a proven bunch of racists, (see photos of tea party protesters with confederate flags) yada, yada, yada. MSNBC only parrots what a vast majority of the left truly believes. This will never stop, they’re like a bunch of pea brained zombies…GOP ugh, racist ugh, must insult and propagandize and destroy. MSNBC, the Justin Bieber of journalism.

I’d like to see just one of NBC’s major talking heads make some snarky statement about how embarrassing MSNBC is to the country. Just one of ‘em.

The problem is that no matter how much they change programming content, we know who the are. You can’t sell something you don’t believe in.

It’s interesting that while Fox News and MSNBC are often thought of as equivalent,

This can’t be said enough: MSNBC is not the liberal version of Fox News. It’s the liberal version of their caricature of Fox News.

Liberals honestly believe that FNC is nothing but boneheaded intolerant GOP propagandists. So, they have no problem with a liberal network that is full of boneheaded intolerant Dem propagandists.

NBC’s Brian Williams is already in Hillary’s pantsuit pocket. Blatant propaganda.
