Report: Christie can’t bring himself to watch the Fallon/Springsteen parody

posted at 4:53 pm on January 19, 2014 by

So much heartache. Via the NYT:

Mr. Christie has told friends and contributors that he can weather the slings and scrutiny, even as he complains about what he sees as “piling on” by his enemies and a once-admiring news media, according to people told of his thinking, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they did not want to be associated with comments that could upset the governor or his aides. Mr. Christie has leaned hard on his wife and brother for advice, in long, searching conversations. (The governor could not bring himself to watch the traffic jam-themed parody of “Born to Run” sung by his idol, Bruce Springsteen, on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,” though he was told by his college-age son, Andrew, that it was funny.)

If Christie had liked someone even vaguely interesting in the music world … maybe the Captain Beefheart or Django Reinhardt or mong the living like Lykke Li or Moby
and not just a politically-advantageous favorite son from Joisey, his tastes might be something more revealing than the usual calculatingly-sleazy hunger for power.

Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas.

Mr. Christie has leaned hard on his wife and brother…

The jokes write themselves.

Didn’t Obama bribe the Butterball Turkey to appear Obama with a promise of ride on Air Force One and a phone call from Springsteen?

IIRC Christie, a grown man, said he cried when Springsteen called.

Karma. It’s what’s for dinner, Chris.

…have they been hospitalized?

Learn a lesson, gubnah. Beating up your friends in order to impress your enemies will not make your enemies like you, but it will make your friends hate you.

Report = too good to check, so let’s just make it up

Count me as one disenchanted with Christie, still mad at him for swaying the 2012 election, yet I find this sad. What Springsteen did was incredibly mean.

From your keyboard to Christie’s pea brain.

No way in hell should anybody EVER vote for a 13 year old girl with weight problems to high office.

Both in orthopedic traction…

how does it feel to be used…fatso?

No doubt they’ll jack him up and stick some wheels on him for the Republicrony primary. Then if he takes it, they’ll poke this old story through his radiator .

[...]he can weather the slings and scrutiny[...]

I think “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” is the usual wording. But if you want to change the latter part to “public scrutiny,” please at least don’t leave out the arrows.

Fat man sittin’ on a
Little stool
Takes some money from my hand
While his eyes
Take a walk all over you…

I’ve never been able to bring myself to watch Fallon or Springsteen and they’ve never done a song about me. That I know of.

Hey fatboy start realizing that Dems and especially Dems in the entertainment industry are some of the most hateful people on the planet. They are not your buddies or your pals.

Of course. It has to be political calculation. It can’t be as simple as where you come influencing your taste in music.

You know who really faked liking Bruce Springsteen? Ronald Reagan.

Maybe Christie should give Obama more fellatio on the beach. I’m sure everything will be peachy-keen then.

By the way, Bruce Springsteen sucks.
It’s not that his music is about as subtle and sophisticated as a sledgehammer, it’s his sickening, hypocritical pretense of being a representative of the “working man”…a multimillionaire rock star taking advantage of fraudulent tax breaks (his estate is a farm!)who hasn’t worked an honest day in his life.

If the fat man isn’t wearing his big boy pants (heh!) he doesn’t deserve to be governor, let alone president.

gryphon202 on January 20, 2014 at 8:27 AM

Did this guy seriously believe the left LIKED him??? Wow, he’s a bigger fool than I expected.

goflyers on January 20, 2014 at 11:17 PM

Commies are mean people…which is why you should not idolize one.

They belong to a political ideology that always ends up in mass murder for a reason.
