Audio: New RNC ads hit Democrats on Obamacare lies

posted at 8:00 am on January 7, 2014 by

Coming soon to radio airwaves near you a dozen endangered Democrats:

The whole ‘New Year’s resolution’ theme feels a bit strained — but the voiceover doesn’t pull punches, flat-out accusing Democrats of lying to the public about their unpopular healthcare law.  Which is exactly what they did.  Knowingly and repeatedly.  This spot will also air in Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese in certain targeted districts, via a source at the RNC:

The ads will be aired in English, as well as in Spanish in Colorado and Virginia, Vietnamese in Louisiana and Korean in Virginia.  Targeted Democrats include Senators Mark Begich (D-AK), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Mark Udall (D-CO), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Kay Hagan (D-NC), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Representatives Bruce Braley (IA-01), Gary Peters (MI-14), Tim Bishop (NY-01) and Nick Rahall (WV-03). Each Democrat told a different version of the lie, “If you like your plan you can keep it,” which PolitiFact called the 2013 Lie of the Year.

I suspect the GOP will get a lot of mileage out of their opponents’ lie of the year, which will impact millions of additional Americans in the coming months.

If Republicans put up a strong candidate Tim Bishop can be defeated in NY – 01. He typically just sneaks through and simply depends on flooding the air waves with attack ads . If 2014 is a Republican wave year he’s going down.

It also would be worth emphasizing that the last tipping point of political power in Washington, D.C. was NOT January 20, 2009…

…It was January 3, 2007, when Nancy Pelosi took control of the House, and Hary Reid (along with then-Senators Obama, Biden, Clinton, Kerry, etc.) took control of the Senate.

In all comparisons of the economy today to a prior date, the comparisons should be to January 3, 2007… THAT is what the Democrats (including Obama) “inherited” from the Republicans.

Unemployment was 4.4%
Employment-Population Ratio was 63.4%
Civilian Labor Force Participation Rate was 66.4%
Total Public Debt was $8.67 Trillion.

Examine each of those stats now, seven years later, after 7 years of Democrats holding 2+ out of 3 of the House, Senate, and Presidency for the last seven consecutive years.

Where would they be able to air an ad that’s six days long?

I like the direction, I don’t care for the execution. People losing health insurance isn’t a subject to be dropping dumb word plays and sounding faux-cheery about.

These either need to sound angry/indignant, or, (more to my passive-aggressive taste) saddened and hurt that Senator so and so put his or her party ahead of their constituents and lied to us about ObamaCare.
