Video: Let’s watch a man throw very hard at Piers Morgan

posted at 11:55 am on December 27, 2013 by

He wasn’t messing around, either. Result, per Piers himself: A bruised rib and cracked wrist.

There has to be a continent somewhere that likes this guy. Your turn, South America.

Too late for “Man of the Year” nominations?

I so love karma. Lets have Obama, Holder,Pelosi and Reid bowl next.

neyney on December 27, 2013 at 12:04 PM

LOL. Even Australia thinks Piers is a douche and they were governed by Kevin Rudd!!

Gingotts on December 27, 2013 at 12:06 PM

Finally I see the point of the game cricket…

and I like it.

Oxymoron on December 27, 2013 at 12:08 PM

WTH? Is that normal for cricket? Is the goal to hit the batter?

Akzed on December 27, 2013 at 12:49 PM

Let me know when you have video of that POS being hit by a truck.

M240H on December 27, 2013 at 12:50 PM

That guy has no shame whatsoever. To parade his badly maintained physique in a competitive venue like that is crazy. Late 40s or not, he looks terrible.

MisterElephant on December 27, 2013 at 1:44 PM

What is it with the pansies in the suits ducking and spinning after the pitch?

M240H on December 27, 2013 at 12:50 PM

I’d still kill for anybody to have video of that POS being hit by a Jeremy Clarkson.

Preferably during Top Gear…

As Clarkson is driving a truck…

But a clip of the punch from ’04 would work as well.

Gingotts on December 27, 2013 at 2:15 PM

Now I would pay to see an in his prime Nolan Ryan throw his best fastball right at ole Piers’ bean. Morgan would be cleaning out his pants for a month.

Clarkson can trash Americans all he wants, after hearing he decked Morgan, he’s A-OK in my book!

I’m guessing there are no “walks” in cricket…

Put Charlie Crist up to bat, and let me pitch a few :P

When Piers Morgan is the batter, yes, yes it is.

Akzed on December 27, 2013 at 12:49 PM

Not the goal, but it’s perfectly legal. Whole point here was that Piers was trashing the British cricket team, saying they weren’t tough. So when the opportunity arose for this stunt to take place (former Australian cricket star pitching the ball to him six times at 80 mph), he took it on. People are still trashing him (comments on Twitter are brutal), but he’s stroked his ego.

nicktjacob on December 27, 2013 at 4:05 PM

Just curious, why would an Australian cricketer care what anyone would say about the British squad?

mankai on December 27, 2013 at 4:10 PM

Did I hear the crowd right? That word they kept repeating sounded a lot like “lero,” which is what Mexican crowds chant when they don’t like a call or a play. It’s short for “culero,” which is not at all a nice thing to say about someone. It seems they know Piers rather well. Still, I have to give Piers credit for hanging in.

:D Full injury list post @BrettLee_58 showdown – cracked wrist, bruised rib, and massive egg on back of head from…the throw-down guy.

Not exactly the asswhuppin’ he needs, but it’s a start !

Uptight Brit doosh is so straight-laced, anally puckered and arrogantly prudish that this throw-down bowler dude could have made hamburger outta Peirs(too much of a raucous crowd for Peirs to slink away from )

Peirs would have stood there with stiff upper lip, blubbering out “bring it on” …eh wot right-o !! Until he was in tatters

Love it when these MSM clowns get themselves in a ‘crack’ they can’t get out of !!Hahahahahah

BigSven on December 27, 2013 at 4:51 PM

Hey, Chris Matthews.. let’s play “Hard Ball” you poosie !!

BigSven on December 27, 2013 at 5:03 PM

It’s too bad the pitcher couldn’t work in a flash-bang grenade at the end. Grand finale and all that.

Mallard T. Drake on December 27, 2013 at 11:25 PM

Not stupid when you know the rules. I played a few rounds… quite fun when you get the hang of it.

The nice thing about cricket is that there are no foul lines. You can hit the ball BACKWARDS and as long as it doesn’t hit you or your wickets it’s still very much fair play. I scored a 6 once doing that.

Sounds like the Bringer got himself brought and he couldn’t take it.

If you can dish it but can’t take it you shouldn’t dish it.

Chaz706 on December 27, 2013 at 11:35 PM

Obviously these Aussie dudes had some beef w PM, and just wanted to get him in a cage and brutalize him and humiliate him in front of his kids. No idea what the beef was, but can’t say that I feel bad for PM. He’s a worm.

WhatSlushfund on December 28, 2013 at 12:25 AM

Got to give him his due. Does everything here have to be seen through the prism of ideological hatred?

(Of course it does, silly rhetorical question for a blog filled with keyboard warriors)

I would settle for seeing Lindsay Graham hitting Piers with his purse.

I’m serious.

Hey, Piers! Howza bouta game of darts?

Shy Guy on December 28, 2013 at 3:13 PM

Morgan (true to form) started off by taunting him, and kept taunting him. After that, going easy on Morgan really wasn’t an option for any professional athlete.

Fenris on December 28, 2013 at 4:04 PM

The man throwing (bowling acutally) is Brett Lee, one of top rated fast bowlers in international cricket, now I think he has retired though

Gaurav on December 28, 2013 at 4:05 PM

Also I can’t watch the video, but Engish and Aussies are traditional cricket rivals. So it might be friendly banter also.

Gaurav on December 28, 2013 at 4:07 PM

Prickhit is a new game where some lucky bloke gets to punch Morgan in the gob whenever he opens his mouth to speak.

justltl on December 28, 2013 at 5:15 PM

It’s ironic that this Aussie newspaper journalist’s blog entry on this video is from a man reviled by the left in Australia as ‘Australia’s most conservative commentator’. Yet ‘Australia’s most conservative commentator’ thinks Brett Lee was being dangerous and nasty. If that’s ‘Australia’s most conservative’, us Aussies are doomed. Shows just how centre-left most people thought of as ‘conservative’ really are thanks to the leftward drift of the scale in the last 30 years.

Akzed on December 27, 2013 at 12:49 PM

Its not a goal to hit the batsman… but intimidation is definitely a weapon and an objective that all cricket fast bowlers prize.. think of how pitchers try to come inside to batters in baseball. they try to intimidate as well.

This definitely has to be some sort of a foolish bet by Piers Morgan. Brett Lee is not even an active fast bowler today. How ever he still has enough zip to beat the living crap out of amateurs like Morgan.

Thankfully he did not place a bet with Mitchell Johnson or Dale Steyn.. you can google both their names and see for yourself what they can do with a cricket ball.

Batsmen hsving to face chin music from fast bowlers who are at their fastest is a sight to behold..

nagee76 on December 29, 2013 at 9:59 AM

I bet Piers wishes he had a gun…

dpduq on December 29, 2013 at 12:22 PM

Yes, but the point of the exercise was that Morgan was mouthing off about the English team not standing up to Mitchell Johnson and being wimps when batting.

Morgan couldn’t even stand up to a retired Brett Lee, who is quite a few km/hr slower.

According to Brett Lee, Morgan was “mouthing off so I let him have it.”

It was all done in a friendly spirit, but there was a bit of a sting in it from Lee’s side. I expect there were quite a few Poms who enjoyed the spectacle of Piers Morgan rolling around on the pitch in pain.

Ozwitch on December 29, 2013 at 7:29 PM

Hit him harder!

SauerKraut537 on December 30, 2013 at 12:17 PM

Holy crap, is the object of Cricket to throw the ball as hard as you can at the batter’s ribs…? I could get behind a sport like that.
