It’s come to this: Obama knocked on incompetence by…Jimmy Carter

posted at 1:32 pm on October 31, 2013 by

A damning indictment, considering the source. The man who presided over gas lines, stagflation, the Iranian hostage crisis, and America’s “malaise” ought to be considered an expert on failure.  Behold, his candid Obamacare assessment:

On how he would evaluate the Obama presidency so far:

JC: “He’s done the best he could under the circumstances. His major accomplishment was Obamacare, and the implementation of it now is questionable at best.

“The best he could” is a backhanded ‘participation trophy’-type compliment.  And it’s hard to argue with the second sentence.  Ahem:

What comes after malaise..?

d1carter on October 31, 2013 at 1:38 PM

He left out that fine Southern damnation phrase “bless his heart”….as in “He’s done the best he could, bless his heart”.

What comes after malaise..?

d1carter on October 31, 2013 at 1:38 PM

Obamalaise, of course.

Flange on October 31, 2013 at 1:45 PM

When you’ve lost Jimmy Carter…….

What comes after malaise..?

d1carter on October 31, 2013 at 1:38 PM

I’ll let Jimi Hendrix answer that.

Manic depression is a frustrating mess.

Steve Eggleston on October 31, 2013 at 1:54 PM

Jimmy’s thrilled that he might finally look good compared to another recent president.

Marcola on October 31, 2013 at 1:56 PM

A pot/kettle incident. All I’m say’n.

onomo on October 31, 2013 at 2:03 PM

Oof.

Kensington on October 31, 2013 at 2:04 PM

I think Jimmy was a do-gooder who honestly believed in Keynesian economics and in the power of intentions. O is a flat out Communist.

Both are incompetent, but I believe JC was concerned that things were going badly in the economy, O planned it to go badly.

mankai on October 31, 2013 at 2:13 PM

I remember hearing Thatcher on Firing Line say that the difference between UK and US politics is that we didn’t have a major party committed fully to Socialism. Those days are gone.

Jimmy was a incompetant boob, but he wasn’t (at the time) a full-blown Socialist. Even O had to lie and say that he believed in free enterprise during the 08 campaign… but he’s a Socialist.

mankai on October 31, 2013 at 2:16 PM

Takes one to know one!

Shy Guy on October 31, 2013 at 2:28 PM

A sinking Barry lifts all Carter and Bush boats. :-)

Punchenko on October 31, 2013 at 2:40 PM

Ooh, that’s going to leave a mark.

Jimmy’s thrilled that he might finally look good compared to another recent president.

Marcola on October 31, 2013 at 1:56 PM

Nothing
can make Carter look good. President Choom just displaced Carter as the worst president in modern history.

RoadRunner on October 31, 2013 at 2:42 PM

Jimmah is laughing his ass off right now. FINALLY! He will no longer be considered ‘the worst president ever!’.

GarandFan on October 31, 2013 at 2:43 PM

A pot/kettle incident. All I’m say’n.

onomo on October 31, 2013 at 2:03 PM

Yes, BUT – when Carter can talk about your incompetence with even the slightest hint of moral authority – you’re in trouble.

dentarthurdent on October 31, 2013 at 2:46 PM

You gotta admit…next to Obama

Carter looks competent.. :x

No surprise that the village idiot is mocking Obama.

Ukiah on October 31, 2013 at 3:18 PM

Obama to Carter: The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but a learner, now I am the master.

Cyhort on October 31, 2013 at 3:19 PM

And Carter is an expert on incompetence.

Still, he’s shifting the blame from the policy itself to its implementation. That same thing liberals always do.

29Victor on October 31, 2013 at 3:23 PM

Too bad obamacare was not implemented in Oct 2012, otherwise, Romney would be in the WH, and obama would be in Chicago. When you have lost the worst (well, now 2nd worst prez) in our lifetime, then you know things are bad

ConservativePartyNow on October 31, 2013 at 3:43 PM

Carter deregulated natural gas and the air lines. And legalized home brewing.

rbj on October 31, 2013 at 4:27 PM

I need more clarity on what “circumstances” means.

Food Stamp riots

Oil Can on October 31, 2013 at 3:10 PM

That starts tomorrow.

BobMbx on October 31, 2013 at 4:46 PM

“The best he could” is a backhanded ‘participation trophy’-type compliment.

I disagree. The “under the circumstances” qualifier makes it clear that Carter is slamming Bush with that comment.

UltimateBob on October 31, 2013 at 5:02 PM

Carter gave up the two most strategic spots on the planet, the Panama Canal and Iran.

Obama gave up the fifty percent of the American people that make America possible.

Which is worse is like asking, “Who’s uglier? Helen Thomas or Arianna Huffington?”

NoPain on October 31, 2013 at 6:23 PM

“He’s done the best he could…”

You know, I think ol’ Jimmy C. has hit on the unifying theme for all the Obozo post-presidential history books.

Oh the shame!

I was about to get all huffy, and rant about Taft and Grant, but then realized that they were small-potatoes incompetents compared to President Choom. So I accept the correction.

mankai on October 31, 2013 at 2:13 PM

RIGHT!

The difference is that Obama is malevolent and deliberately harms innocent citizens. No other president in history has defiled the office in this way.

…sorry!….I can’t read this!….bluegill doesn’t like you!

KOOLAID2 on October 31, 2013 at 9:28 PM

Wow! That’s like the standard for ineptitude determining that there is a better standard for ineptitude.

EdmundBurke247 on October 31, 2013 at 10:58 PM

Why do we always overlook LBJ? He was shrewd and vicious, a highly competent legislator, but you could hardly call his Administration successful. He did more to ruin this country than any 3 Presidents I can think of.

claudius on November 1, 2013 at 7:41 AM

I hope you’re not including FDR, Carter, and Obama.

NoPain on November 1, 2013 at 8:21 AM
