Video: Remy’s (delayed) ObamaCare video contest song

posted at 12:28 pm on September 27, 2013 by

Reason TV offers a late entry to the HHS video contest to give Americans a fair view of the new ObamaCare regime, and it’s a doozy.  With references to Olestra, the Redskins secondary, and Billy Ray Cyrus, I think we can declare a winner:

The official deadline for the government-touted Healthy Young America Video contest, which is designed to promote the benefits of The Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obamacare), was September 23.

But we figure that, what with all the other delays associated with Obamacare, the kind judges at Young Invincibles will be willing to cut us a few days’ slack.

So here’s Reason TV and Remy’s “Obamacare Video Contest Song.”

That’s just pure, sweet, tasty awesomeness.

Kind of funny. Unfortunately, he decided to put the vulgar image at the end.

Those of us offended by vulgarity will not be sharing it. It was a stupid, off-topic vulgarity for the purpose of vulgarity.

BoogPowell on September 27, 2013 at 2:01 PM

If he doesn’t win…. well, I just don’t know what to think anymore.

Remy never disappoints!

GoRemy is his channel on YouTube, BTW.

Nice riff off coveroregon’s psychedelic ad. My favorite part was all the doctors…Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Dr. Pepper, Dr. J…

And ending it with Miley’s Wrecking Ball was awesome. Sorry, Boog, but you couldn’t be more wrong. It is on topic. Obamacare is a wrecking ball from vile, vulgar people.

I liked the assortment of ‘doctors’ in the that particular mashup. My kids will love the Dr. Who guy in particular.

That was epic. I think he’s getting even better. Liked the visuals too.

The “vulgarity” at the end is a reference to Billy Ray Cyrus’ foul daughter Miley’s music video in which she swings on a wrecking ball. He didn’t just put it in to be vulgar for vulgar’s sake, he did it because of the lyrics and the wrecking ball analogy to Obamacare. Relax a little.

Loved the Dr. Feelgood – Mötley Crüe inclusion. Didn’t see it until the second go round.

If you cannot make a point without a naked woman, I do not think you are adept at making points.

BoogPowell on September 28, 2013 at 9:57 AM

This video seems targeted at people who aren’t grumpy old coots and who have a vague idea of what’s going on in pop culture. So if you are overly concerned with the vulgarity at the end it wasn’t meant for you.

jhffmn on September 28, 2013 at 12:54 PM

Of course, that is not true. I am quite cheerful.

How did not wanting to be exposed to naked people make you think I am grumpy?

BoogPowell on September 28, 2013 at 8:21 PM

Boog, I’m with you — would like it better without that last clip. I’d show it to my kids if not for that.

That said, this is just about the most hilarious video I’ve ever seen. Very, very, very well done. Even the Miley/wrecking ball inclusion makes sense — Remy just trashed her father, so she’s gonna get back at him. But why couldn’t Remy have used a photo of Miley with at least minimal clothing on? Like this one? (Ugh, what a slut.)

Splashman on September 29, 2013 at 6:21 AM

Agreed, Splashman.

The reason he did not do that is because he is a vulgarian who happens to be very talented and right about a lot of things political.

Our culture has devolved along with our political system and government. The two did not happen in a vacuum.

I’m conservative but gimme a f**king break.
Maybe you should spend more time focusing on the plank in your eye-and less time obsessing over the speck in Remy’s eye.
I’m sorry-is my comment too vulgar for your delicate sensibilities? ///

annoyinglittletwerp on September 29, 2013 at 10:37 PM

Is there any line we should draw or is everything ok?

I find using the naked image of a young woman was an intentional act to be offensive and be cooler than the normal people who are offended.

No Mr. Prude-it was a pop culture reference.
Nothing more.
I’m pretty square-but unlike you-I wasn’t offended in the slightest…because I understood it.

Your nose must be turned up so high that you’re getting nose bleeds. ///
