Video: Rottenest fan of the year; Update: Or 2011

posted at 9:19 am on September 26, 2013 by

It’s about six weeks old, and it has 1.7 million views — and for good reason.  This is what happens when people refuse to grow up.  I’ve never been able to snag a ball at a baseball game, but I don’t think I’d steal one from a little kid to break my streak … and I wouldn’t high-five my seatmate after doing so:

It sounds as if the announcers tracked the little girl and got her a souvenir.  The stadium should have replayed that and showed the woman live on the screen to shame her out of the ballpark, but that would have to assume she was capable of shame in the first place.

Update: As commenters point out, this was posted in August 2012, not 2013 … and apparently took place in 2011. It’s getting a lot of attention today on Twitter for some reason, maybe because this kind of cluelessness is simply timeless.

Odds are with an attitude that would swipe a baseball from a kid and celebrate it, she would have sued the team for personal humiliation if they posted the video of her action on he big screen.

Mooch stands in gleeful awe at the woman’s hutzpah.

Every time I think Dallas couldn’t get any suckier, I go to Houston to get over it.

cozmo on September 26, 2013 at 9:41 AM

So much hate for this woman on YouTube. Don’t people understand that this is exactly what we’re doing to her generation with our high debt & nationalized healthcare?

People like that woman there are snatching away her future and celebrating when they do it.

Where the in the name of !#&$@#%^(* were the parents, guardians or chaperones? Those kids weren’t left at the ball park on their own I hope.

You’ve never been to a ballgame, have you? It’s not uncommon for kids to leave their seats and hang out at the railings. Their parents know where they are (usually).

That women is marked forever, and rightly so…

Her 15 minutes of fame, she will wish it never came.

She votes…twice or thrice (and every ballot a straight-Rat one).

Steve Eggleston on September 26, 2013 at 10:09 AM

She needs to get in shape… I wonder what she would be like if they were launching hot dogs into her area of the seating.

ExpressoBold on September 26, 2013 at 10:12 AM

Bet she’s a Democrat

neyney on September 26, 2013 at 10:17 AM

Wow, disgusting. Even worse when you consider the ball boy was tossing it to the kid to begin with.

If you go to the YouTube page, you’ll see “Published on Aug 14, 2012.” The vid is about a YEAR AND SIX WEEKS old.

I can add nothing regarding the woman’s behavior.

Jazz on September 26, 2013 at 10:25 AM

Sorry, whiners, that little girl needed to toughen up and kick the bïtch hard in the shins instead of slinking away like a whipped püssy.

Seth Halpern on September 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM

Think of the woman as JugEars and the little girl a taxpayer holding her paycheck.

It is the perfect metaphor – isn’t it?

Hill60 on September 26, 2013 at 10:35 AM

The high five and the huge smile reminds me of Nancy Pelosi and her gavel. Such celebratory joy at stealing from children.

This happened in 2011? The Astros were already terrible, maybe they’re cursed to be bad for another century because of this. :P

Seth Halpern on September 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM

Why? To prove to the world that she’s as much an ill-mannered bitch as the woman? To what end?

This had the proper outcome. The woman has been rightly reviled (and the internet’s instant karma is forever!). The child has been rewarded for not having a meltdown over it.

CurtZHP on September 26, 2013 at 11:09 AM

It looked like a 50-50 ball, IMO, but she should’ve handed it to the girl afterward, again, IMO.

.
Oh, NEVER MIND WITH THE ACTUAL DATE OF OCCURRENCE! It’s the principle, the fable of generational theft from “our children,” the idea that someone bigger, stronger, more experienced and more opportunist than fair-minded could steal from a child, a mere baby, an infant in the eyes of the world, someone who took her defeat like a big girl while muttering as she crept away “You time is coming soon, Big B!tch…”
.
The preceding has been brought to you by The Democrat Party, Home of Fairness and Equality Created by Law.

ExpressoBold on September 26, 2013 at 11:17 AM

How does this surpass the Brazilian fans who quartered and decapitated the referee, then placed his head on a pike on the field? Sure, the ref had just stabbed to death a player who was assaulting him, but the category is rottenest fan.

Christien on September 26, 2013 at 11:18 AM

If Wendy Davis has a sister, she’d look like this woman.

Christien on September 26, 2013 at 11:14 AM

Exactly. There are some things you just don’t do. Taking a baseball away from a kid at a ball game is one of them.

CurtZHP on September 26, 2013 at 11:22 AM

The good part of this being so long ago is that others figured out who she is and much hilarity ensued.

Not to incur the wrath of the powers that be, I will not divulge her identity.

A little sleuthing with lead you to her.

cozmo on September 26, 2013 at 11:22 AM

Cozmo, was that actually confirmed? And does the Hot Air policy on naming names apply to public figures?

Throat Wobbler Mangrove on September 26, 2013 at 11:44 AM

I could see getting caught up in the moment and grabbing the ball. But a few seconds later she’s celebrating grabbing it from the little girl. You’d think she’d say “oh, wait, what did I just do?”. That’s what makes it such a scummy move not just for her but also for her friends.

Fenris on September 26, 2013 at 11:46 AM

I heard it was Allahpundit. That’s why the no naming policy is in place. :D

MechanicalBill on September 26, 2013 at 11:59 AM

Obama supporter. Redistributing the baseballs.

This person is a Liberal Democrat who supports MSNBC and Obamacare

……and mocks Ted Cruz

Ironically, she is a registrar at a Texas primary school.

RushBaby on September 26, 2013 at 1:40 PM

Check out the looks on the faces of the people around. Hopefully this happened near the beginning of the game so she could enjoy those looks throughout a nice, long one.

This is what happens with the Welfare State.

Come on, she’s a lovely American woman! What, with her modern haircut, the fake boobs and the bling on her wrist. She’s really fighting that creeping paunch by going to Zumba 2 times a week. I mean, she’s any man’s dream!
