The Nation editor: Hey, let’s launch interventions against states that pass voter ID laws!

posted at 11:22 am on September 5, 2013 by

Even as red meat snark, this is sub-moronic:

By “rolling back voting rights,” vandenHeuvel means passing voter ID laws, which are wildly popular, and do not do what she claims they do — based on empirical evidence.  Fail.

So does this mean she thinks we are rolling back gun rights with background checks?

Rocks on September 5, 2013 at 11:34 AM

Does she mean the states like Illinois that routinely allows cheating and the disenfranchisement of their voters? Or Minnesota that allows poll workers to take boxes of ballots home then turn them in later?

Flange on September 5, 2013 at 11:34 AM

Who does she think will be launching this “intervention?” Her Hollywood friends? Or, perhaps, the US military, which typically LIVE in the states she purports to be targeting?

By “rolling back voting rights,” vandenHeuvel means passing voter ID laws,

And by intervention she means “gulag”.
And by “sub-moronic”,(at least if I were to say it) I’d mean progressive ideologue, or potential tyrant murderer.
I’m sick and tired of the mastermind scum pretending to be anything but ruthless and dangerous. It is either push back or be enslaved. She is what she is.

onomo on September 5, 2013 at 11:41 AM

While this is sub-moronic she does ask a good question:

@emilyslist Then how did all the women on Senate Foreign Relations Comm vote -*for* authorization to use military force in Syria?

If having women run the world would make it so peaceful how do you explain the fact that so many prominent women politicians, almost all liberals, jumped on the bomb Syria bandwagon with the first shout?

Maybe we could launch intervention in those states which are waging war vs. democracy, rolling back voting rights?

Don’t tweet after you’ve cracked open that second bottle of Chardonnay.

For those of you who don’t know, Ms. vandenHeuvel is an avowed Communist (yes Communist, not Socialist) as were her parents before her. How she is even given a platform in this country is a mystery. She has hidden behind Socialism/Progressivism, but her loyalties are to Communism.

NOMOBO on September 5, 2013 at 11:57 AM

Maybe we should commit crazy magazine writers who foment insurrection against democratically elected state governments.

Dusty on September 5, 2013 at 12:03 PM

I have no problem with states raging war with Democracy. It’s the only way to restore our Reprensentative Constitutional Republic.

Katrina had an internship at National Lampoon. She should have gone for Mad Magazine, because she is way out there. I am glad I am not married to that piece of work.

Women would not make the world more peaceful. Women are catty. Cats are predators and they kill. The female of the species are the most deadly.

There is a very derogatory word occasionally used to describe shrews like vanden Heuvel. It applies to her.

She’s a consummate un-American POS.

Have you read Diana West’s “American Betrayal”?
I thought Goldberg’s “Liberal Facism” was the red pill(for approximate depth of the rabbit hole). Ms. West drops the hammer (and cycle) on U.S. history that has been rewritten.

Hammer and sickle. Sorry. Troubled Shovelhead on my mind.

Please let this idea catch on with the left.

Maybe we could launch intervention in those government agencyies which are waging war vs. federalism

A silver spoon, multi-millionaire heiress now owner-editor of The Nation. A summa graduate of Princeton, and, either wilfully ignorant or just another damn liar.

Before you start a civil war, how about you attack other countries that have voter ID laws?

Elections Canada’s Site on Voter ID requirements:

To vote, you must prove your identity and address. You have three options:

Option 1
Show one original piece of identification with your photo, name and address. It must be issued by a government agency.

Option 2

Show two original pieces of authorized identification. Both pieces must have your name and one must also have your address.

Option 3

Take an oath and have an elector who knows you vouch for you. This person must have authorized identification and be from the same polling division as you. This person can only vouch for one person.

We’ll be up here enjoying our bacon and drilling up tar sands oil while we await your declaration of war, bitch.

Probably 3/4 times a week I’m asked to show my drivers license. It’s not anything particularly serious , just normal business routine. I can’t for the life me figure out why it’s so difficult to have a valid ID when casting a vote for elected representatives. In my district I have to present a valid ID and sign a logbook-no big deal

Maybe the Constitution says we could kill anyone who launched such a strike.

Never let it be said that Stalinists don’t have a sense of humor.

ConservativeLA on September 5, 2013 at 1:53 PM

I know, let’s have interventions against multimillionaires who own and edit leftist propaganda rags who live in upper east side brownstones.

Akzed on September 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM

So when is the editorial board of The Nation planning to invade Canada?

According to Elections Canada’s official website, Canadians who wish to vote must provide: “one original piece of identification with your photo, name and address. It must be issued by a government agency”
.

“Quelle horreur”, as they would say in Quebec…

Hm, Interventionist Wars: take it over there so we don’t have to fight interventions at home. /Bush

I bet Katrina VonDenTeufel hasn’t had any for a long, long time.

Maybe the Blue states could declare war and the cultural differences can be resolved once and for all!

Funny how the left has recently brought the focus on bullying and then began employing the same tactics.

zoyclem on September 6, 2013 at 6:04 AM

In is moronic in another way, Guy. Most nations, including most democracies have voter ID laws. The US is an outlier.

But perhaps this silly woman is simply being dishonest. Note she says we should intervene in nations that “are rolling back” voter rights, not “have rolled” them back.

But that can’t be: Leftists don’t lie and mislead. They would never think of taking advantage of the ignorance of the masses. Would they?
