Pelosi: Naah, I don’t want to be Speaker again

posted at 11:58 am on August 30, 2013 by

If Obama decides to go all in on military strikes on Syria with the current polling numbers, it won’t be an issue, either:

NJ It’s become something of a pastime in D.C. for people to feel bad for Speaker John Boehner for having an unwieldy caucus. Do you feel for him?

PELOSI I don’t comment on their caucus, their leadership, or the rest of it. He’s the speaker of the House. I respect the job. The position that he holds is a very exalted one. I wish his members would respect his position as much as I do. But if the purpose of your call is for me to get in sniping at the Republicans on how they do their business, I will talk about how it affects the American people.

NJ Do you want to be speaker again?

PELOSI No, that’s not my thing. I did that.

It’s not likely to become an issue, not in a second-term midterm election, and not after the botched ObamaCare rollout.  But if we are supposed to believe that Pelosi isn’t interested in regaining the gavel, then why did she fight so hard to remain Minority Leader in the last two sessions after losing the gavel in the first place?

Apparently she conducted a poll and found out what was in it.

Never thought I’d agree with Pelosi on something. Go figure.

AngusMc on August 30, 2013 at 12:31 PM

Great!
Will she just step aside the next election and let in some fresh blood?

ProfShadow on August 30, 2013 at 12:35 PM

“Aw, they’re probably sour anyway.”

mrt721 on August 30, 2013 at 12:58 PM

Translation: I’ve been told by my caucus that I’m not going to be Speaker again.

You can buy lottery tickets on this – if amnesty passes, she will be speaker again, in Jan. of 2015. It’s a dead given.

The TEA party will help her, for good reasons.

Nancy Pelosi spent the August Congressional Recess traveling around the country to raise money for several Democrat Congressional candidates.

Everyone of the congressional candidates who Pelosi helped will be entered into her famous “favor file” so she can use this favor as leverage in the future when she needs a favor from them. If Pelosi needs their votes to become Speaker, she can easily call in that favor if the Democrats win the majority in the House.

Pelosi cannot afford to have opposition to her becoming Speaker again be the reason that Democrats lose Congressional elections in 2014. But if she can raise enough money to engineer a Democrat majority victory in the House in 2014, you know Pelosi would love to be Speaker again with her big gavel, airforce plane, and all the power that comes with the position.

Since San Francisco is highly likely to send Pelosi back to Congress in 2014, the best way to prevent Pelosi from becoming Speaker again is to work hard to elect Republican candidates in every other Congressional District in 2014.

Check with your local Republican Central Committee now to make sure you have strong Republican candidates ready, willing and able to run for Congress in 2014.

Easy. She stayed on to ensure the ObamneyCare hook had set firmly.

With the GOPe reluctant to do anything beyond tinkering at the edges, the Dems are confident that it will never go away. In fact a lot of them wouldn’t be concerned about losing 2014.

It would allow them to sit out and heckle from the sidelines while the GOPe struggles to make ObamneyCare work for the next two years, before the public turns back to the donks en masse for 2016, so they can ride to the rescue and switch us to single-payer. No matter how the winds blow, the Donks figure that they have locked in a long term win-win.

If the dems take the House and Senate and she is Speaker, all bets are off. Amerika will have made the full transition. Time to quit our jobs and get in the cart. No point working when you think what will come down the line.

What we can hope for here is that Pelosi “doesn’t want the Speakership again” is because she knows she’ll never get it again. Win-win for civilzation.

RebeccaH on August 30, 2013 at 5:23 PM

Did anyone expect THE TRUTH to come out of Pelosi’s mouth?

When the ObamaCare roll out bombs, you can bet Pelosi will blame it on the Republicans.

GarandFan on August 30, 2013 at 5:24 PM

Well dayam – I agree with both BillyBob Clinton and Nanzi in the same week.

dentarthurdent on August 30, 2013 at 5:28 PM

Clearly Pelosi has been told that as long as she is still in the House, the Republicans in EVERY swing district, will run AGAINST their opponents using her face!

Or, like Mark Sanford, a full sized cut-out!

In unrelated news, polling for the generic Democrat in congressional races jumps 3 points.

Really? You mean some liberal Republicans who pretend to be conservative are taking some blow-back? Cry me a river polluted with ObamaCare BoehnerCare.

…private planes and jets and everything?…until she found out she can get them anyway!

The lady is disconnected from reality, hardly worth listening to what she says.

Actually, the NSA needed more time to scan your computer. That’s what they wanted you to think.

WryTrvllr on September 1, 2013 at 9:58 PM

She either has been told by the powers that be that she won’t be speaker again or wants it to look like a noble sacrifice taking up the duty so people wont notice that she is peeing herself with glee.

Slowburn on September 2, 2013 at 2:49 AM

no one else wants you to be speaker either.
