Duck Dynasty star slams abortion: “What in the world happened to us?”

posted at 5:47 pm on August 20, 2013 by

Matt Vespa used to contribute right here in the Green Room, but now he’s at CNS News, and catches this fiery speech from Duck Dynasty‘s Phil Robertson slamming the abortion culture.  Robertson, whose son Willie is reportedly flirting with the idea of running for Congress, doesn’t mince words about the nature of abortion:

“Listen, from the time you started inside your mother’s womb, Thomas Jefferson had it right, you have the God-given right to life for crying out loud. You’re this long (pointing to his finger). You’re a week old inside your mother. They suck you out of there when you’re about like that (point to finger again). You wouldn’t be here tonight!

“And, when you got to be the size of my thumb, they suck you out. You wouldn’t be here.  Then, you grow a little bigger, like my fist – and finally eight, nine months later you come out.

“And we debate whether it’s a – some woman’s right to tear you out of there a piece at a time! C’mon! You have a God-given right to live. And of all places, inside your mother – what in the world happened to us?”

If Robertson doesn’t get more political, the show might get a little more spiritual, Yahoo News reports:

Still, the family doesn’t hide their beliefs. And it’s possible religion will play a greater role this season, with oldest son Alan — a former minister — joining the cast. In fact, before the season began, Alan said he hoped to spread his message to a bigger audience thanks to the popularity of “Duck Dynasty.”

Alan said of leaving his pulpit, “What I do for our church — you see, it’s a pretty good-sized church — impacts a lot of people. But because of my association with the show, I’ll get to minister to a lot more people.”

Correction: It’s Phil’s son Willie who’s thinking about a run for Congress. I’ve fixed it above.

How in the world did we allow all of the evil that has crept into our country and our lives?

Or that His message would be delivered, in part, by a bunch of guys with funny accents, an aversion to razors and a fetish for duck meat?

I hope and pray that their message continues to resonate with us.

We sorely need it.

You guys need to know, for reference, that this is how my people are. Say what we think. Conservative. Fear God (after a fashion). The fashion sense of S.asquatch.
