Coming soon: The Rubio/Cruz/Lee “defund Obamacare” push

posted at 1:26 pm on July 25, 2013 by

PPP shows Marco Rubio slipping to sixth place in a hypothetical 2016 GOP primary field, so some fence-mending with the base may be in order.  (Yes, pun intended).  As Allahpundit noted on the homepage, Rubio’s ready to lead the charge on limiting the barbaric practice late-term abortion, a subject on which conservatives hold the moral and public opinion high ground.  The Florida Senator has shown himself to be an able spokesman on life issues in the past.  He’s also ramped up his criticisms of Obamacare, pledging to oppose any upcoming short-term budget or debt ceiling deal that continues to fund the unpopular and shambolic new law:

Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Utah’s Mike Lee have announced a “defund Obamacare” colloquy on the Senate floor next week.  Lee has stated in recent days that he’s willing to shut down the government over the issue if Democrats dig in their heels this fall, adding that the coalition behind this approach is “growing.”

It’s appropriate that this post appears in a place called “Hot Air”, because that’s all this effort is.

Rubio: Trojan Horse Republican.

Let him do his penance, and then send him back to private life where he belongs. He forfeited his place in public service by lying to us.

Not necessarily. If the entire Republican House and Senate caucuses are united in their willingness to shut down the entire government in order to deny funding to Obamacare, then it could work. But that’s a Mount Everest-sized “if”. Especially if a phony like Rubio is tasked with leading the charge.

Coming soon: The Rubio/Cruz/Lee “defund Obamacare” push

Will McCain call Rubio a “wacko bird”?

Bitter Clinger on July 25, 2013 at 1:42 PM

I guess it’s an improvement over all those grandstanding “repeal” votes.

Rubio puts his finger in the air and if the wind is favorable and if polls show that the issue is popular he says he will fight for it. Lee and Cruz see problems and whether or not its popular they hit it early. Rubio is like his secret crush Obama, he leads from behind. Rubio isn’t fit to be in the same sentence ad Cruz and Lee.

No reason to involve elRookio in this push. Cruz will do fine on his own.

Well, we’ll see if he stays there.

On a similar note, my uncle sent me a picture that he took of an SUV that had this sticker on it. He said, “Sweet Angel of Death take me now Quickly!”

That they have already made these things, really worries me.

The House has one final chance to throw a monkey wrench into this nightmare by standing firm on the debt ceiling. And yet only 60 House GOP reps, probably all Tea Party caucus, sent a letter to Boehner to do this.

If we get rolled as we have in the past on this fiasco, then Obamacare is here to stay. This is it. Time to call and keep calling, faxing, e-mailing your congress critters and read them the riot act on this. Shut it down.

And Rubio? You’re done.

I agree. Rubio is a day late and a dollar short. I’m getting the feeling that he is doing a “McCain supports Enzi” in order to elect Liz Cheney. Too many commenters are falling for this underhanded tactic of McCain.

Rubio is persona non grata and him inserting himself into this plan of Mike Lee and Ted Cruz may taint their effort.

Rubio needs to resign and join the Democrat Party. We don’t need him nor want him.

Agreed. Rubio is a jinx. Here is an article worth reading on this.

I know, I don’t care for some of Redstate, but they get things right once in a while:-)

Cruz would do well to distance himself from elRookio™ at this point.

Pro-illegal alien amnesty blogger Guy Benson probably supports pro-illegal alien amnesty politician Marco Rubio.

Pro-amnesty blogger Benson loves to try to promote such politicians, it seems.

Agreed. He’s proven that he can be a tool. Let’s make him ours for a while until we’re through using him.

Rubio is dead even to Floridians. We are committed to sending his corrupt butt home. I’ll vote Democrat.

Jayrae on July 25, 2013 at 11:24 PM

I’m sure Rubio is telling the truth, he wouldn’t lie to us twice.
