Gibbs: I don’t read Maureen Dowd. Dowd: Backatcha

“I don’t largely because it’s sort of largely the same column for the last, like, eight years.”

”I don’t normally listen to Robert,” she wrote in an e-mail to POLITICO. “I don’t largely because it’s sort of largely the same tired defense of President Obama for the last, like, six years.”

On that, at least, Dowd and I are in agreement, as I noted earlier today. Who wins in this exchange? We do.

This s**t just keeps on getting better and better. But starting to get messier and messier. Can’t wait til it finally reaches the top of the WH.

Pass the popcorn, somebody.

Awww, the spoiled brats are fighting again.

You don’t read her columns but you know what’s in the last eight years of them…

Ronnie on May 20, 2013 at 3:59 PM

Aww, they’re in love.

JeremiahJohnson on May 20, 2013 at 4:02 PM

Pass the popcorn, somebody.

Considering what they are going to be throwing around I’d keep the popcorn bowl covered.

No Truce With Kings on May 20, 2013 at 4:04 PM

Hmmmm I think they’re both… both… what’s that new popular word coming out of the White House? Oh, yes… irrelevant.

Hill60 on May 20, 2013 at 4:17 PM

In a fight Dowd would scratch his eyes out.

gerrym51 on May 20, 2013 at 4:39 PM

Two liberals. Both trying to attack each other from the left.

Gibbs should remember that Dowd was tougher on Clinton than she’s been on Obama … until the Starr report came out in September ’98 and she turned on a dime and made the special prosecutor the target of her wrath, once it became clear Clinton might be impeached.

MoDo will snark at Obama for as long as she doesn’t think he could possibly be removed from office. If that happens, she’ll be non-stop on John Boehner and Darrel Issa’s case. That may not be enough for Gibbs or the other Obama die-hards, who demand 100 percent media subservience 100 percent of the time, but thinking Maureen’s going to turn the Upper West Side of Manhattan again Team Obama is the least of their worries right now.

Hey Dowd, FYI, this could be said of you as well. In other words, you just insulted yourself.

Call me old-fashioned but I strongly detest women who are attacked, verbally or physically. But enough about Gibbs…

Gibbs means that her phone records are more interesting than her column.

virgo on May 20, 2013 at 8:34 PM

I don’t read either of them.

listens2glenn on May 20, 2013 at 11:11 PM

Well that’s fourteen wasted years.

bluesdoc70 on May 21, 2013 at 1:04 AM

I haven’t read anything by Dowd for about the last 30 years. Now Gibbs is dissing her, I have to wonder if she actually finally wrote something worth reading. Probably not. And Gibbs was never worth listening to anyway.

Eren on May 21, 2013 at 7:57 AM

They can both STFU as far as I’m concerned.

ExpressoBold on May 21, 2013 at 9:14 AM

How can this be? They’re both right.

Apparently, liberals can despise each other as much as we despise them. Happily, it shows that they can be right about something.

morganfrost on May 21, 2013 at 1:17 PM

Looks like Gibbs has received his official MSNBC standard-issue metrosexual spectacles…

dpduq on May 21, 2013 at 2:51 PM

This is just the first round of the MSM’s being given permission by the Clinton machine to go after Obama to take him down to clear the road for her run in the next election.

The media hasn’t a learned a darned thing.
