#FACT There are more Marines holding umbrellas for POTUS than were guarding Amb. Stevens in #Benghazi

TFG’s actual quote needs no embellishment.

“They’ll look good standing next to us.”

aquaviva on May 16, 2013 at 4:03 PM

Seriously. What kind of douchebag says something like that when asking a favor of someone they supervise? Notice he did not even say thank you.

And no problem whatsoever letting the press and the two Marines get wet. I’m frankly surprised he thought of the man at the other podium.

Eviva on May 16, 2013 at 5:49 PM

marine: ‘must resist urge to smack him with it, must resist, must resist…’

Because he doesn’t know how to work an umbrella on his own, remember?

And, a few good Marines. Too, too bad they should be used to keep this POS from getting wet.

Obama: That’s not really rain that’s falling is it.
Marine: No Sir.

rightConcept on May 16, 2013 at 6:57 PM

Marine: Sir, just as a precautionary mesaure, we ask that you stand under this umbrella.

President: Precaution against what?

Marine: You’re falling approval ratings.

Damn it.. Just for posterity’s sake:

Marine: Sir, just as a precautionary measure, we ask that you stand under this umbrella.

President: Precaution against what?

What an insult to the Marines!! These are fighting men, not lackeys! He has plenty of Black servants in the WH who could do this and it is part of their job! Just another way to show his dislike of the Military! Ever notice that you never see a Black Marine on WH duty? The ‘King’ only likes Whites to have to salute him! Racist Bastard!!!

Now we know why he couldn’t send Marines to the Embassy in Benghazi. The few. The proud. The pet monkeys.

The military, under orders, provides Obama with cover on Benghazi.

I’m doubtful Obama would have ‘allowed’ any Marine to do this IF they’d been Black. Note the two White Marines in service because Obama found them to be useful props.

Barack Obama: the most embarrassing incompetent fool ever to loiter in the White House.

tpitman on May 17, 2013 at 8:24 AM

I’m a female, a woman, and had I been or was I President and it started to rain, you can count on it that I’d have (1.) asked someone near to me to get an umbrella and (2.) hand it to me so I could/would (3.) hold it over my own head myself if not also whoever handed it to me.

Why didn’t they just move it inside?

changer1701 on May 16, 2013 at 2:27 PM

Because Obama was pulling a power play, and showing the press who’s in charge. He kept them waiting for well over half an hour in the heat, waited for it to start raining, and then made them sit in the rain while he spoke under a Marine-held umbrella. It was ALL a power play.

Given the heat and approaching rain on radar, there is no logical reason to have held this outdoors yesterday, keeping reporters waiting in heat and then rain, for no other reason than that Obama could and did do it.

The press is the battered wife.

ITguy on May 17, 2013 at 9:11 AM

Marine: I’d rather be guarding the Unknown Soldier.

Marines…yes, we protect douche-bags too.

Yes, yes, yes, I know the Obama administration is suffering against greater accusations, but…

…today I saw President Obama order two Marines to hold umbrellas for the Turkish prime minister and himself during a Rose Garden downpour.

I thought the Marines were their for security. Most of the time we see them watchfully-with-their-backs-to-the-President as he gets off a plane. How are they ready to protect the President with one hand occupied with a bumbershoot?

Is this an appropriate use? Are bodyguards or are they orderlies (manservants) to the President.

In Obama’s defense, I think he’s already proven that he’s not qualified to operate an umbrella himself.

BlueCollarAstronaut on May 17, 2013 at 11:34 AM

Limpet6 on May 17, 2013 at 10:22 AM

No, the Marines are not there for security. You’ll notice that he is unarmed. Their function is purely ceremonial. The USSS (Secret Service) Presidential Detail and USSS Uniformed Division provide security for the POTUS at the White House. The only Marines that provide security for the POTUS are at Camp David.

The Marines are from Marine Barracks, 8th & I. I was stationed there for 13 months and at Camp David for 15 months.

BINGO!

But I’d go a lot further… Notice the Islamic flags/symbols in the frame. I think all you said applies, AND… as well making a statement to the muslims around the world; my Marines will cover you.

Not a conspiracy… just another in a long list of Obama bowing to ‘others’ in our name. And he’s gotten much smoother trickier at it.
