“What we are witnessing is nothing less than a dramatic reversal of the nation’s political narrative”

Stuart Rothenberg explains why Democratic strategists are sweating:

The current triple play of Benghazi, the IRS and now the Justice Department’s seizure of journalists’ phone records has the potential to be a political game changer for 2014.  It’s hard to overstate the potential significance of the past week. What we are witnessing is nothing less than a dramatic reversal of the nation’s political narrative — from how bad the Republican brand is and how President Barack Obama is going to mobilize public opinion against the GOP in the midterm elections to whether the Obama administration has become so arrogant that it believes it can stonewall Congress and the public.

The series of revelations presents an unflattering picture of an administration that just 10 days ago looked poised and confident. Now it looks out of touch and unresponsive. The danger for Obama, of course, is that many Americans will start to doubt his administration’s veracity and values. If that happens — and for now it is only a danger, not an inevitability — then the president could well turn into a serious liability for Democrats in next year’s elections.

For what it’s worth, Nate Silver concurs with this analysis — especially on the potency and potential longevity of the IRS story.

Here’s a thought on “reversing”. Let’s require the rest of the world to have open borders. Ours is open. Let’s require the rest of the world to provide health care to undocumented aliens. Not just first aid, health care. Let’s require the rest of the world to allow anyone to cross their borders and take any job they like for up to a decade, and then pay a small penalty if they want to stay.

OK – World isn’t in? Let’s at least require reciprocity from Mexico.

Reversal my big arse.

Nothing’s going to happen. We were all so sure that Romney would win in ’12…I think we’re a nation of emotional eunuchs now.

..gryph, I believed you have described me almost perfectly. You left out the part about being curled up in the fetal position in bed with the electric blanket turned up to 9, however.

Most Obama worshipers don’t have a clue who Nixon is, so comparisons with him are not going to make any difference come election time. Furthermore, 2014 is a long way away in political time, so unless these deliberate acts of malfeasance are kept alive by new media and conservatives in the minds of Obama idiots, they won’t help keep the House and take the Senate. Republicans need to be ruthless about these crimes, investigating, digging, getting that information out there and going for the political kill. No backing down or letting things go. Remove him from office in shame and defeat, send him and his thugs to prison, especially Clinton and Holder. Nothing else is acceptable.
