Q: How much are those guys paid?

A: Not enough.

I can barely watch, too.

Awesome, though.

Gads – that’s got quite the pucker factor.

Yes, but does it look like a giant … organ from the ground, now? (Like the Chinese propaganda building.)

Not true. Davis Bacon pays plenty.

The best part is right around 1:00 where the guy braces his foot against the side of the monument and kicks outward to wiggle the scaffolding into place. I can’t count the number of instincts that would be telling me not to do that.

Feelings of vertigo are exacerbated because of the fish-eye nature of the camera. I personally don’t have a fear of heights and this doesn’t otherwise bother me, but the fish eye is distorting how the actual structure looks and makes it look soooo much more unsafe than it is.

Clearly a job Americans won’t do.

This is what things like Google Glass would be useful for.

I’ve seen this. If I want to go this high I’ll use an airplane.

Two questions:

1) I thought supposedly there was some sort of little plaque on top of the monument that said “glory to God” or somesuch. Didn’t see it here. Urban legend?

2) Are they seriously building that scaffolding out of… aluminum!? Sure looks like it to me…
