Good news from Bette Midler: “I LOVE THE IRS!!!”

posted at 8:20 am on May 14, 2013 by

She loves the IRS.

Fun fact via Political Math: Barack Obama’s own Twitter account is run by Organizing for America, a 501(c)(4) organization.

They are desperately trying to miss the point.

It’s not that these groups necessarily qualify, it’s that they were singled out for extra scrutiny for apparently political reasons.

Jeff Weimer on May 14, 2013 at 8:29 AM

So, now would probably be a good time to ask if Media Matters for America has ever been scrutinized to this degree, right?

h a p f a t on May 14, 2013 at 8:36 AM

She tries WAY too hard to fit in with the In Crowd.

thebrokenrattle on May 14, 2013 at 8:37 AM

So, Bette, when the next GOP president gets in, you’ll be A-OK with him going after liberal groups, right?

/Didn’t think so

Odysseus on May 14, 2013 at 8:38 AM

At least Midler is admitting that she’s a fascist. So she has that much going for her.

forest on May 14, 2013 at 8:38 AM

Being a leftist requires fascism. They try to hide it most of the time, just as they tried to hide their marxist views from most Americans. But after Obama’s election, it has emboldened them. They see a majority of voting Americans were okay with a communist in the White House and it has allowed the mask to slip a bit so people can see the fascism behind their ideology.

HOW CAN A POLITICAL ORGANIZATION BE CALLED A NON-PROFIT THAT PROMOTES GENERAL WELFARE??

What in the blue phuck is she talking about?

bigmacdaddy on May 14, 2013 at 8:46 AM

Ellison joining her blaming citizens united on all of this

What in the blue phuck is she talking about?

bigmacdaddy on May 14, 2013 at 8:46 AM

It took me a minute to figure it out, too. She asserts that non-profits, by definition, promote the general welfare and that a political organization, by definition, does not promote the general welfare and therefore cannot be non-profit and thus cannot be tax-exempt.

I think her premise is wrong but what do I know? I’m just a knuckle-dragging teabagger living in flyover country.

Odysseus on May 14, 2013 at 8:59 AM

She just ain’t too bright, but…
now I wish George Costanza hit her on purpose on that Seinfeld episode.

Chris of Rights on May 14, 2013 at 9:01 AM

Thank you for your honesty, Bette ….. I guess.

listens2glenn on May 14, 2013 at 9:11 AM

Hey, what’s the Bette Midler Family Foundation? It’s a 501(c)(3) that’s seems to be nothing more than a tax dodge.

What else can anyone expect from a Bathouse Mermaid…

Shut up and sing, Bette.

Meryl Yourish on May 14, 2013 at 9:47 AM

Right after the 2008 election, I went to Vegas and saw Middler’s act. I also saw Terry Fater’s act. He was the guy who first won America’s Got Talent. Terry Fater had a much better and much funnier show than The Ditzy Miss M. And I didn’t have to put up with anti-Palin jokes at Fater’s show.

Bette Midler = Non-Relevant HollyWEIRD Has-Been.

Let her rant. No one is listening anyway.

Odysseus on May 14, 2013 at 8:59 AM

The irony being that progs frequently cite the so-called “general welfare clause” as a specifically enumerated power of government that allows them to legislate whatever the eff they want to take over.

blammm on May 14, 2013 at 10:18 AM

Being a leftist requires fascism.

ButterflyDragon on May 14, 2013 at 8:42 AM

Not really. Being a leftist requires totalitarianism. That could be in the form of fascism, socialism, or communism.

She asserts that non-profits, by definition, promote the general welfare and that a political organization, by definition, does not promote the general welfare and therefore cannot be non-profit and thus cannot be tax-exempt.

Odysseus on May 14, 2013 at 8:59 AM

Because she’s confusing “non-profit” with “charity”. Lots of people do. I don’t know that I agree that lla “non-profits” should be tax-exempt, but that’s the way the rules are. But most non-profits are NOT charities.

See Tami Gunden instead. Among many things, she does some covers of some of Bette’s more popular tunes at her shows, and she does them better.

Interesting. Her self-description on her twitter page describes her as “perpetually perplexed”. In other words, liberal.

and, Media Matters for America is a 501(c)(3) organisation, Center for American Progress is a 501(c)(3) organisaion, The Center for American Progress Action Fund is a 501(c)(4) organisation, Priorities USA is a 501(c)(4) organisation, and MoveOn.org is a 501(c)(4) organisation, to name a few. NONE of those organisations was targeted by the Internal Revenge Service. Only conservative, Patriot and TEA Party groups, along with those that promote education about the Constitution and Bill of Rights, want to make ‘America a better place to live,’ and support Israel were targeted, frozen, personalised, and polarised…and you said NOTHING about it. So, obviously, you only ‘love’ the IRS when it is goring someone else’s ox, which makes you a pathetic hack.

Good news from Bette Midler: “I LOVE THE IRS!!!”

This is why you shouldn’t take advice or trust anything important to actors or entertainers.

After all, their expertise is in parroting back lines which other people have written and/or making people smile…without thinking.

Analysis, independent thought, critical thinking, and constructive planning are simply not part of their world.
