Amazing news from the Democrats: “Free” ObamaCare coverage!

posted at 4:59 pm on April 30, 2013 by

Via Twitchy, I’d say that “free” is something of an oversimplification, no? Wouldn’t “54 million American now have coverage for preventative services, courtesy of the taxpayers and our growing national debt” perhaps be more accurate?

Free Lunch ObamaCare for everyone!

geojed on April 30, 2013 at 5:35 PM

All AMA doctors should be compelled to service these individuals pro bono. They were the ones that stood in white coats behind the President during the signing ceremony. They own it.

blammm on April 30, 2013 at 5:53 PM

This is DWS. I recognize her syntax.

The fact that its a completely absurd statement was a big clue also.

BobMbx on April 30, 2013 at 5:58 PM

If you thought healthcare was expensive yesterday, get ready. It’s now ‘free’!

Resist We Much on April 30, 2013 at 6:04 PM

That’s a lot of really kind doctors offering their services for free like that.

ButterflyDragon on April 30, 2013 at 6:07 PM

Yeah, they have a way of learning “kindness” when the alternative is getting picketed by community organizers and having their licenses, practices and buildings threatened by regulators. “Nice practice ya got there doc…”

The old ones will retire, young ones will change careers, those in-between will go through the motions. If we don’t have enough we’ll import ‘em from the Philippines.

Marcola on April 30, 2013 at 6:28 PM

I don’t care even if magic unicorns somehow made it “free.” A free turd is still a turd.

Don’t forget the higher premiums…

beancounter on April 30, 2013 at 6:39 PM

You get what you pay for.

rogerb on April 30, 2013 at 7:07 PM

And Dems get all testy and wonder why people are saying they claim the bill boasts free health care.

The Schaef on April 30, 2013 at 7:17 PM

Of course, if the preventative care doesn’t work and you get actually sick, you are on your own.

Dems to Sick People: Drop Dead.

PattyJ on April 30, 2013 at 7:45 PM

It is not Free coverage for most people, it is coverage you/your employer/ both paid for. Pre-paid for.

Jerking around the language, this is as annoying as Obama’s balanced approach to budgeting, which doesn’t mean balanced like a budget is balanced conventionally, it is rhetorical device which means it is “Paid for by new taxes.” And called balanced so he can say the word balanced in a sentence which contains the word budget.

Propaganda.

beancounter on April 30, 2013 at 6:39 PM

Who can forget?

My premiums went up 30% last year, and will probably double this year.

That “free” care is quite expensive! Of course, we’ll all have to pay more, in a variety of ways, so that more moochers, deadbeats, and illegal aliens can get their “free” (i.e. taxpayer-subsidized) Obamacare policies.

AZCoyote on April 30, 2013 at 8:56 PM

Wait, I thought a report that was released in the past few weeks said that even with Obamacare there would still be 20-30MM without healthcare coverage…what’s up with that?

in_awe on April 30, 2013 at 9:19 PM

Just wait until the new taxes kick in. We’ll see how “free”, free really is.

That is if they can ever get this white elephant up on it’s feet.

GarandFan on April 30, 2013 at 9:22 PM

“The gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill,” Obama said.

Yeah. Good to see Dems taking the high road.

BKeyser on April 30, 2013 at 9:33 PM

Good. If it’s free, there’s no reason to raise taxes.

I’m trying to make sure I’ve got this straight. It’s racist if I use the term “Obamacare,” but it’s perfectly fine for lefties to use the term “Obamacare.”

Do I have that right?

Pol Pot restarted his society at Year Zero. The intellectuals were sent to work in the fields, persecuted, tortured, and/or killed.

President Zero doesn’t go that far. He has the most well-educated, formerly most respected profession, now told who to treat, how, and when, and will be paid whatever the government says to pay them. It’s not so different, is it. At least they get to live.

SagebrushPuppet on May 1, 2013 at 7:52 AM

In his press conference, OBAMA used the term “Obamacare”. A few years ago in a conversation with my far-left leaning, big Obama supporting, oh so tolerant (not!) brother, he said using the term “Obamacare” was like calling a Chinese a chink or an Asian a gook. It was a big deal. Words matter, he said. Oops! Obamacare is good now. Try to keep up.

See also the Monroe Doctrine, the Truman Doctrine, Reaganomics, Hillarycare, the Bush tax cuts, Romneycare. Those were fine. But Obamacare … oh … that’s AWFUL! And racist. I mean, it was. It’s OK now. Nevermind!

Paul-Cincy on May 1, 2013 at 8:12 AM

Gingotts on April 30, 2013 at 6:33 PM

This really explains it all.

Badger40 on May 1, 2013 at 8:16 AM

This explains why we are in such a horrendous fiscal position; this kind of thinking and this kind of deception can only lead to worse in the future if a little reality doesn’t start taking hold in D.C.

54 million Americans grasshoppers now have free coverage for preventative services courtesy of the ants.

Fixed.

54 million Americans now have free coverage for preventative services.

Nothing is free. Everything has to paid for with the time and resources of someone.

RadClown on May 1, 2013 at 9:39 AM

54 million Americans now have free coverage for preventative services

. . . paid for by 250 million other Americans.

When you get something for nothing, that means someone else gets nothing for something.

More like paid for by the top 53%. Everyone else gets subsidies or freebies courtesy of dopes like us.

stvnscott on May 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM

What a bogus claim. My preventive services flexibility went down the toilet thanks to the Dems’ Obamacare:

We used to have a fair amount of flexibility designating preventive care under our insurance plan (to a monetary limit, of course). Thanks to Obamacare defining exactly what is considered preventive care and dictating to insurance companies what must be covered as such (raising costs), they were forced to cut the flexibility out and only cover the dictated Obamacare preventive care stuff.

The result: I now pay for previously 100% covered preventive services.

54 million Americans now have free coverage for preventative services.

And 54 million low information voters believe it.

dirtseller on May 1, 2013 at 10:36 AM

I spent 7 1/2 hours in the emergency room last night, numerous times I heard people talking about how all was going to be fixed because of ObamaCare and they were all very sarcastic. I am in a leans conservative area of Ca, but I finally think people are starting to figure out what a mess this is and how much worse its going to get?

DustInCa on May 1, 2013 at 1:13 PM

No need to worry about where all the free stuff comes from, the Money Fairies and Elf Doctors will just come up with more!

At least, that’s what I was taught in Public School by Union School Teachers.

Wait until you see the hospitals nailed to the wall on readmissions (which they can’t really control) and satisfaction surveys! Several hundred hospitals are already receiving fines over a million and they’re set to double in October (along with increased number of conditions tracked). They triple in Oct 2014.

Remember when we actually thought the people we worked so hard to get elected were going to go up to DC to repeal Obamacare posthaste?

Ah, the naivete of youth!
