Bad news: Global warming will force more women into prostitution

The resolution, from Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and a dozen other Democrats, says the results of climate change include drought and reduced agricultural output. It says these changes can be particularly harmful for women.
“[F]ood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health,” it says.
Climate change could also add “workload and stresses” on female farmers, which the resolution says produce 60 to 80 percent of the food in developing countries.
Women have been underrepresented in the climate-change debate, Lee claims, and her resolution demands “gender-specific frameworks in developing policies to address climate change.”
In other words, this is almost the realization of one of the most well-known jokes about the media and the Left:
Q: If the world came to an end tomorrow, how would the New York Times report it?
A: “World Ends, Women and Minorities Hardest Hit”
Unfortunately for the media and Barbara Lee, Warmageddon isn’t getting any closer. As Jeff points out, that won’t change the claims — only the context:
Here’s the good news for Rep. Lee the worldwide temperature hasn’t changed for over sixteen years, in fact some scientists are even predicting an ice age. Pehaps the Congresswoman from the State of California can change her argument to “woman are going into prostitution because the body heat is keeping them warm.”
Addendum: Here’s a question for Rep. Lee — why would you assume women would gravitate to prostitution while male farmers find other work?
