How to annoy Boston-bombing conspiracy theorists

posted at 1:30 pm on April 16, 2013 by

Smart, smart, smart, and ineffably depressing that everyone understands immediately why it’s needed. May this be common practice after every future attack.

Good guy domain-buyer.

It’s also depressing that we all understand that there will be future attacks.

NebCon on April 16, 2013 at 1:52 PM

I like this.

thebrokenrattle on April 16, 2013 at 1:57 PM

Yeah, someone bought godhatesnewolreans.com when Katrina hit to keep the nutjobs at Westboro from exploiting it.

Maybe it could be the same guy.

Any conspiracy would have to go all the way to the top and back in time, in order to pull off having the Boston Marathon coincide with Patriots’ Day coincide with Tax Day. Especially since it’s almost certain that the Marathon has coincided with Patriots’ Day longer than the bombers have been alive or their grievances have existed.

Okay — not every conspiracy — but certainly Michael Moore-style fever dreams about date significance. Reminds of Oklahoma City, when lots of people assumed it was international terrorism to blame. Wonder what Moore thought of jumping to conclusions back then….

calbear on April 16, 2013 at 2:20 PM

No one really knows enough to say what it is…except, of course, the bombers themselves.

LizardLips on April 16, 2013 at 2:20 PM

Nah. Shutting people up really isn’t my thing.

Axe on April 16, 2013 at 2:21 PM

He should snag bostonmarathontruth.com before it gets taken. They are relentless.

nobar on April 16, 2013 at 2:25 PM

Of course they’ll probably read something into this too, claiming the domain was bought beforehand, part of a plot to deny them the ability to speak the truth or whatever.

According to godaddy someone got that one already, but currently the page just links to go daddy.

I’m sure the Alex Jones crowd will find another outlet. You know, to post all the evidence suggesting it was yet another false flag operation. (The number of people who believe that about Newtown is absolutely frightening.)

Just blame the Illuminati.

rbj on April 16, 2013 at 2:30 PM

Excellently done.

Bob's Kid on April 16, 2013 at 2:52 PM

The Alex Jones-types will say this was a government false flag operation to justify the institution of ever greater limits to our liberties in order to prepare the way for the final assault on all god-fearing patriotic Americans.

Just like 9/11. 4/15 was an inside job.

You just know Jones is preparing his angry rant right now for his show.

He is a one-man argument why dismantling our nation’s nut farms was a bad idea.

At this moment, 6:20 PM EST, it’s coming up as a blank screen in both FF and IE.

If that’s true, then who had it shut down?

I mean, not to raise any conspiracy theories or anything.

It’s still there. Without an error message from the server, i.e., when you are looking at a blank page, you are looking at complete output. I read the hypertext; it’s just an empty page. The owner erased the text.

Axe on April 16, 2013 at 6:55 PM

So what if the Boston Marathon had been on a different day?

DTTS on April 16, 2013 at 7:48 PM

bostonmarathontruth has already been registered. WHOIS has the registrant’s name and email address.

hungrymongo on April 16, 2013 at 8:00 PM

Maybe it could be the same guy.

Lay-Z on April 16, 2013 at 2:11 PM

Run a whois search on both domains. You might get your answer.

This is the message I get on that page……

“PLEASE KEEP THE VICTIMS OF THIS EVENT
AND THEIR FAMILIES IN YOUR THOUGHTS

THANK YOU”

The rest of the page is blank.

Is that what y’all are getting?

Solaratov on April 16, 2013 at 11:09 PM

Tuesday was the 148th anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln.
I’m surprised that somebody hasn’t blamed the Republicans for attacking a ”blue state” in their “rush to judgement.”

Solaratov on April 16, 2013 at 11:09 PM

No. There was more, initially. Then it was completely blank. Then it was that new text.
