Employer that pays women 13% less celebrating National Equal Pay Day

posted at 9:02 am on April 9, 2013 by

Hey, at least it’s an improvement.  In 2011, Barack Obama paid female staffers at the White House 18% less than the men:

President Barack Obama officially declared Tuesday “National Equal Pay Day,” symbolically marking how much extra work women supposedly must perform to reach pay parity with men. …

A January Daily Caller analysis of the gender-pay disparities in the Obama White House revealed that while the women comprised approximately 50 percent of the White House staff in 2012, the median salary for female staffers was 13 percent less than the median salary of male staffers. (RELATED: Read the analysis)

The 13-percent disparity was an improvement from the 2011 disparity of 18 percent that a Washington Free Beacon analysis revealed – and both are better than the national average.

Talk is cheap. When Obama puts his money where his mouth is, then I’ll be impressed.

It’s sad but not atypical of conservatives to see this lie repeated again.

Ignore years of experience, job description and duties, stick to averaging salaries regardless of every other factor. Breitlies style of “journalism” and a well known hatred for reality.

Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act prevents pay discrimination based on gender only. Let me explain this at a 5 year old’s level of comprehension:

“You are paid less just because you’re a woman/man.”

Is what the law prevents.

Wrong. The Ledbetter Act only broke open the statute of limitations, giving the trial lawyers yet another windfall courtesy of the federal government.

Gender discrimination laws have been on the books for decades. It was just as illegal to pay women less based solely on their gender before the law the passed as it is now.

Now who’s repeating a lie? If you’re going to be sanctimonious, at least try to have your facts straight.

My Senator, Maria Cantwell tweeted yesterday about equal pay. If you look at her staff, 5 of the top 6 salaries go to men.

You would be correct if it was the standard Civil Service employee that this story is referring to. However, it is not. It is talking about staffers. Staffers are Schedule C employees. Usually they are people, just out of college, who worked on the campaign and are being rewarded with an appointed government job that expires once that person no longer holds the office. What the analysis is showing is that between the male and female Schedule C appointed staffers, the females are being paid less than their male counterparts.

If they are predomitally out of college, then they all have the same relative experience. All being staffers, they all predominately have the same job description. Therefore, they are all equal except for one factor, gender.

Even a 5 year old can understand that your analysis is disengenious to what is really being compared in the wage disparity. To use your language, it is sad, but not atypical of liberals to misrepresent the true argument being made in order to fit your agenda of protecting the Messiah at all costs from his hypocrisy.

Obama’s jihad on women continues. Do not as I do but do as I say.

Liberal women deserve less, because they are ugly non-breeders.

Wrong. The Lily Ledbetter Act just gives women more time to sue over pay discrimination. It doesn’t “prevent” anything.

Of course, as with most subjects, I don’t really expect to see accurate information from liberals on this.

Just watched The Grey the other night. I really didn’t like the outcome after Liam kept asking God to “Do something”.

spoiler: It is a very very very depressing movie.
