Polls: Obamacare just as popular as ever

Sen. Mitch McConnell’s office is highlighting a few Obamacare nuggets buried in a new nationwide poll from Quinnipiac:

39. From what you’ve heard or read, do you approve or disapprove of the health care law that was enacted in 2010? IF APPROVE: Do you strongly approve or somewhat approve? IF DISAPPROVE: Do you somewhat disapprove or strongly disapprove?

Approve: 41 percent
Disapprove: 46 percent

Strongly approve: 21 percent
Strongly disapprove: 35 percent

40. From what you’ve heard or read, do you think the 2010 health care law will mostly help you personally, will mostly hurt you personally, or don’t you think it will have much of an effect on you personally?

Help: 15 percent
Hurt: 37 percent
No effect: 41 percent

So the president’s signature ‘accomplishment’ boasts a robust 41 percent approval rating — and more than twice as many Americans think the law will negatively impact their lives, rather than improve them.  As for the plurality who think Obamacare won’t have any impact on their personal situation, let’s revisit those assessments after premiums begin to spike, employers drop coverage, and the law’s official roll-out is marred by a series of embarrassing failures.  Erika noted last month that even many Democrats aren’t buying a number of Obamacare’s key selling points anymore.  Meanwhile, small business owners are beginning to really sweat:

  • Requirements of the health care law are now the biggest concern for small businesses, having bumped economic uncertainty from the top spot which it has held for the last two years.
  • 77% say the health care law will make coverage for their employees more expensive, and 71% say the law makes it harder for them to hire more employees.
  • 32% of small businesses plan to reduce hiring as a result of the employer mandate, and 31% will cut back hours to reduce the number of full time employees.

To put a face to these statistics, meet Rachel Shein, or Jody Manor.  The administration announced a major alteration and delay to a small business provision of the law just this week, citing “operational challenges.”

Well, yeah. Romney was going to take away contraception for rape victims and someone had to stop him.

Seriously, type in “Romney will take away contraception” on google and see the hits you get.

Yup. That’s what was in it!

Now, just to see how really painful it is, you have to run fullspeed head-first into a brickwall, just to fully know what’s in that.

Give it time. It’ll be push-polled into approval like every other plank in the Dem platform.

Do you approve of a path to citizenship Obamacare for illegal aliens living in the Unites States?
