Newest set for “Walking Dead”: Conan O’Brien’s show?

posted at 2:42 pm on April 3, 2013 by

It’ll be months before we have another grumbly TWD recap thread so this’ll have to tide you over. And this: Slate has a smart critique of the gripping moral conundrums the show missed out on this season by turning the Governor into a cartoon bad guy. Why follow a paint-by-numbers “good vs. evil” narrative when the realities of a global apocalypse free you from that narrative constraint? Mystifying.

Exit question: Isn’t Merle supposed to be a zombie?

.
It’s okay to show violence, graphic, gory, blood-spattered violence, ’cause that has no effect on people.
.
It’s just when violence occurs, politicians need to take guns from everyone but the criminals.
.
Follow the liberal logic?

Oh man. I hope his costume doesn’t smell as bad as it looks.

Imagine the feigned outrage if the same skit had been done on some conservative show.

Lame.

Back in the ’80s, at a hi-tech start-up I worked for, marketing was having some sort of function in the auditorium next to the production floor. At one point, a bunch of marketing types burst into the production area, shouting and waving around (fake) automatic rifles.

I don’t think they realized that a large part of our production team consisted of Vietnamese refugees.

We had immediate openings in Marketing after that.

Lady had her finger on the trigger of that rifle for most of the episode.

A while ago, I was directing a commercial shoot (“shoot” means photography, video session or filmography…anything using a camera, in other words, “shooting” via a lens), anyway, I was directing a commercial shoot and the lead male actor was, of course, in necessary character from the film the shoot was to advertise.

The guy in character was in costume somewhat resembling that one shown for “Merle” from WD, but he was from a future-scifi-survivalist situation and was more military-looking, and carried this (fake) “future gun” …

In curiosity about human nature, during a break in the shoot, I took the actor in character out into the street out front, in L.A. We both stood there for a short while amidst the general public walking past us in both directionson the sidewalk and NO ONE SO MUCH AS FLINCHED OR LOOKED ON at the guy carrying his massive “gun” and looking like he’d just survived an apocalyptic event.

I took the guy back indoors out of concern for the actor’s safety but it was an interesting experience.
