Ok who dressed Ed in all the pope clothes?

simkeith on March 16, 2013 at 9:54 AM

Ed, I’m jealous! You’ll remember this day the rest of your life. Thanks for sharing. Ask his Holiness to pray for America.

Zorro on March 16, 2013 at 9:58 AM

Oh… I was wondering if Ed was there. How fun.

Illinidiva on March 16, 2013 at 10:06 AM

At least he looks like a happy guy – and not just happy he’s now the head cheese. So many high officials have that pained, annoyed look, like they forgot their daily dose of prunes.

simkeith on March 16, 2013 at 9:54 AM

Oh, c’mon, that guy has way too much hair to be Ed! 😉

GWB on March 16, 2013 at 10:12 AM

I look forward to your report Ed…Nice photo of Pope Francis.

workingclass artist on March 16, 2013 at 10:12 AM

He looks like such a nice man.

GWB on March 16, 2013 at 10:12 AM

Maybe the hair was added too. 🙂

A Balrog of Morgoth on March 16, 2013 at 10:49 AM

How do they get the pope clothes to fit so quickly?

claudius on March 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM

Apparently, they have different sizes.

Illinidiva on March 16, 2013 at 11:20 AM

Gee, Ed, he sort of looks like you but without all that black and yellow paint….

How do they get the pope clothes to fit so quickly?

claudius on March 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM

There are nearly 2000 years worth of pope clothes in the closet.

unclesmrgol on March 16, 2013 at 1:57 PM

I read that the Vatican staff had several sizes of papal outfits on standby ready for whoever emerged from the conclave as Pope.

Ed I am very excited for you to be there in person as history unfolds. Your journey to the Vatican last time evidentially made a huge impression.on your spiritual life, so this must be a really big deal for you to be there in person as a reporter.

If you walk around Rome, you will see plenty of shops who specialize in selling vestments, cassocks, and various related cha-chis.

Blake on March 16, 2013 at 4:12 PM

Maybe they should sell the unclaimed vestments on ebay or craigslist.

22044 on March 16, 2013 at 5:43 PM

I love this pope already and I’m not even Catholic.

Missy on March 16, 2013 at 6:08 PM

Quit pickin on Ed…Hey Ed maybe you could get a picture with those two staunch Catholics (biden and pelosi) standing with the new Pope and you…….Do you think maybe you and the Pope could put devil horns on them as the picture is snapped?

crosshugger on March 16, 2013 at 6:20 PM

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day, everyone! Thanks to him, there’s no snake in my boot!

claudius on March 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM

Apparently, they have different sizes.

Illinidiva on March 16, 2013 at 11:20 AM

Yes. There are three different sized sets of clothing and six different pairs of shoes prepared for when a new Pope is selected. The same business has handled Papal vestments for a couple hundred years, IIRC. Whether they have a tailor on hand to make adjustments in the hour between the white smoke and “Habemus Papam,” I don’t know. If not then I expect overnight they measure and bridge the gap from “close enough” to a perfect fit before the next day’s morning Mass and varied appearances. When you have a lock on the biggest contract in the world, you gotta do your job right….
