Bad news from Democratic rep: Sequester could cost America 170 million jobs

posted at 2:06 pm on February 28, 2013 by

Now I’m worried. Can we afford to lose 170 million more jobs after losing 480 kajillion in Obama’s first four years?

Barbara Boxer loves Maxine Waters. If it wasn’t for Maxine, Babs would be the stupidest person in Congress.

Tyrone Slothrop on February 28, 2013 at 2:13 PM

Crap. That’s almost as bad as the 500 million jobs a month Pelosi said we’d lose had we not passed Porkulus.

Doughboy on February 28, 2013 at 2:21 PM

Why is this “bad news”? It’s less than the 500 million jobs Pelosi said we’d lose!

Maxine used to be the second stupidest person in Congress, until Joe Biden got promoted to Vice President.

Congrats to Maxine Waters.

You just replaced Ellison as the stupidest member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

How come Democrats know so little about about jobs ?
But so much about spending money ?

That is truely a dangerous combination of “knowledge”

Jabberwock on February 28, 2013 at 2:31 PM

No, 170 million is the amount your husband stole from the tax payers you ignorant fool.

Hummer53 on February 28, 2013 at 2:33 PM

Stupid constituents favor stupid politicians.

hillsoftx on February 28, 2013 at 2:33 PM

So we’re going to lose every single job in the country and then some? Wow! I had no idea that a 2.3% cut in the growth of government spending had such magical consequences.

why are they worried about lost jobs since they think unemployment checks and food stamps stimulate the economy so much?

170 million jobs will be lost? So nearly all jobs will be lost? How many jobs does this idiot think exist in the country???

(*headdesk*)

Aitch748 on February 28, 2013 at 2:48 PM

Some of these 170 mil are bound to be first responders to Kansas Hurricanes. That means next time 20,000 might die instead of just 10,000 like last time.

Kataklysmic on February 28, 2013 at 2:50 PM

I just looked this up -the entire country only has 313 million people.

thats men, women children, senior citizens etc.

Maxine means every single job in the country will be lost.

there goes suzy’s hot dog stand.

gerrym51 on February 28, 2013 at 2:58 PM

“That’s 500 million jobs per month,” said Nancy Pelosi.

I went hunting current Employment numbers for 2013…

Couldn’t find any…

Anyway Maxine (Da Brain) Waters, is crazy…

I believe according to her numbers, every working man and woman would lose their jobs cuz of sequestration…

This is an elected official?

Someone please fire her…

Scrumpy on February 28, 2013 at 3:05 PM

Nancy Pelosi: Every month without a recovery package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.

She would probably underestimate the national debt by a similar factor.

The debt is only $16 billion dollars, I don’t know why Republicans are so upset.

SC.Charlie on February 28, 2013 at 3:12 PM

170 million jobs lost.
400 billion Americans dead from the lack of essential services.
600 trillion dollars in revenue lost.

4 planet Earth’s worth of fires will burn without fire fighters to put it out.

All because of the sequester.

The sequester that was all George Bush’s fault. And Republicans.

Gatsu on February 28, 2013 at 3:16 PM

I’ll be in my bomb shelter. Somebody come and get me when it’s over – if anybody survives the 3000% unemployment of the sequester that is.

DeathtotheSwiss on February 28, 2013 at 3:17 PM

There are currently around 135,000,000 jobs in the United States. So Maxine is saying that we’ll lose every job we have plus 35,000,0000 we don’t have.

RadClown on February 28, 2013 at 3:18 PM

If we lost 170 million jobs, that would require at least 16 million new jobs to be created and then lost. I doubt that there have ever been 170 million people employed in the United States at the same time.

J.S.K. on February 28, 2013 at 3:18 PM

That reminds me of Ronald Reagan, who said: “Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.”

Typical of the democratics. They just pull crazy numbers out of their collective ass and expect not to be challenged. And they’re correct. The media (present company excepted) do not and will not challenge them. In fact, we’ll probably see this figure written as fact in the Huffington Post later this week, and then included as supporting evidence by a democratic in a Senate budget hearing next month.

After the debt clock fiasco, I’m thinking that Waters is waging a #waronmath.

blammm on February 28, 2013 at 3:43 PM

The Department of Labor says there are approximately 155,000,000 people currently working in the labor force.

The sequestration will not only eliminate every job in the United States including President, but also elimate 15,000,000 more not even working.

The only good thing about sequestration is at least we get rid of the President. :)

Can we afford to lose 170 million more jobs after losing 480 kajillion in Obama’s first four years?

Tut, tut…me thinks you exagerate a bit. It was more like 350 bazillion lost jobs.

Wyznowski on February 28, 2013 at 4:13 PM

Let’s see. What’s the U.S. population and how many of those people are working? Now I know the country is going to be just like Greece. Maybe we’ll have 50-75 million workers to support all the rest of us.

I just heard some political wonk on Capitol Hill say that lil’ bunny rabbit fur will become coarse and prickly because of the sequester. And another one predicts increased meteor showers (apparently cities full of incompetent leaders seem to attract objects from space)

Personally, I predict that by next Friday, Klatuu will have arrived and Biden will be vaporized after firing a shotgun at Gort.

Ed Schultz has poorer math skills. His calculation says the $85B cuts is 1/3 of the $3.4T budget. Thats a big cut.
