Video: 1,400 days since Senate Democrats’ last budget

posted at 12:26 pm on February 27, 2013 by

John Boehner lost his temper yesterday and demanded that Senate Democrats “get off their ass” and pass an actual bill detailing their sequester replacement plan.  His artful turn of phrase could also apply to the upper chamber’s ongoing dereliction of budgetary duty:

“What we haven’t know for nearly four years is what they’re for, because they’ve refused to put their plans for the country down on paper and actually vote for them.”

This clip doesn’t exactly scream “high production value,” but it makes a useful, digestible argument.  Pounding the desk about “1,400 days” may break through to some people, but using various cultural markers to offer perspective is a smart play.  (Wait, they haven’t done their job since before the iPad was invented?  William and Kate weren’t even engaged yet? etc).  Some Democrats are claiming they’ll finally introduce, mark-up and pass a budget for FY 2014.  We’ll see.  “No budget, no pay,” certainly has an urgent ring to it.

So what? There is no single mass-media organ willing to hold them accountable (or even PUBLISH this information in any sort of meaningful way).

To para-phrase Hillary… ‘at this point WTF does it matter?’. The media will no longer be reporting the derelictions of the Dems… BUT they will be closely watching every time Rubio takes a sip of water in case he dribbles a drop or two.
