Titanic II — The Cruise Ship Strikes Back

Finally, we all can be “KING OF THE WORLD!!” No word on whether Kate Winslet will offer starving artists in steerage a nude modeling session, however:
“Why would you want to recreate something that caused such tragedy?” wonders the CBS host, and that’s a very good question. No doubt, Titanic has grabbed imaginations worldwide ever since its maiden voyage took 1500 lives to the bottom of the north Atlantic almost a century ago, but, er … is that really a selling point? “Sail Titanic — we’ll actually get there this time!”
It’s worth noting that Titanic had two sister ships, Britannic and Olympic. Only Olympic survived to be decommissioned; Britannic hit a German mine in November 1916 with a loss of 30 lives. Even at that, Olympic collided with another ship in 1911, with no loss of life. I’m not sure this is a tradition that screams out for a return engagement on the seas.
