Not sure if this was in reply to what I wrote, but I certainly don’t think it’s impossible, or even very difficult at all, to keep an affair secret. I was speaking strictly about the ability to fake paternity: what on earth is he going to do about the potentially hundreds of people who could know who her real father is?

Still, your other points are very valid, which is why something doesn’t quite add up about this situation to me. But like I said, if she’s not his daughter, we’ll find out very soon – it won’t take very much for some aspiring Breitbart to look into a story like this.

1) First thing, he claimed that the young lady was the daughter of a close friend. Which means he is saying now that he was either boffing the wife of the friend, or the friend is female and he boffed her. Which leads to the whole series of very cogent questions listed by Narniaman on February 14, 2013 at 9:53 PM above. Add to the equation that at the time, and now, Cohen was/is single and therefore had no marital reason not to at least step up to his responsibilities to a child he fathered.

2) The obviously suspicious attempt to make the twitter messages disappear as his first reaction.

3)It has been noted that if he is the father, the mother’s genetics were far stronger than his.

4) Russert says Cohen claims that the appearance of himself and the young lady at a White House Christmas party proves she is his daughter. That just proves that she accompanied him, not that there relationship was paternal/filial. It would not be the first time that a guest at the White House appeared with an unrelated companion.

6) Then there is the ultimate reason to approach his explanation with absolute skepticism:

The man is not only a Democrat, he is a Democrat member of Congress. When matters of sex, corruption, or misconduct are alleged; their trained reaction is to lie, lie again, and then double down on the lie. If they are instantly backed by the media, especially Leftist commentators, it is confirmatory, if not probative that there is more dirt to be found.

When was the last time that we were told the truth about anything by an elected Democrat?

Absent answers to Narniaman‘s questions, and possibly DNA tests; it is rational first order approximation to assume that like various Kennedys, Weiner, Menendez, etc. that Cohen is simply just another member of the Nomenklatura who is trying to live the life of Trimalchio from Fellini’s movie version of the Satyricon?

There is no reason to automatically take him at his word, as the title “Honorable” as applied to our rulers is purely a figure of speech.

As for Mr. Cohen, with an “e”…if this very attractive young lady were/is his daughter…why would he have to take that extra effort to delete all his tweets with “ILU” in them?
Nothing wrong at all about a dad telling his daughter that he loves her. More dad’s should.

That part really doesn’t add up. It still seems like this would be impossible to fake, though – at least not for very long. Maybe a reporter contacted his office and a staffer with access to his twitter feed didn’t know he had a daughter and panicked?

If he really isn’t her father, there’s no way he’ll be able to keep that a secret more than a few days, so I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Consider. . . . .you are a woman, and one day discover that you are pregnant by a fellow who is an attorney and not only a well off attorney, but a state senator.

And. . . you decide that you don’t want to marry the attorney/senator. Not only that, you don’t want the senator/attorney in your child’s life at all. In fact, you hide your pregnancy from him, and after the child is born never mention to anybody who the father is, and you do not seek any type of child support at all for the attorney/senator.

And when your child is 16 or 17 — your former lover, the attorney/senator, is elected to the US House of Representatives. Is this the time that you let your teenage daughter know that her father is actually a US Congressman?

Nope — you still don’t want anything to do with the congressman/attorney.

Why?

Well, I only meant on things like paternity and so forth. Keeping people fooled in general is much easier. But to make up a story claiming you’re her father, you have to somehow track down potentially hundreds of people who know who her real father is and silence them all somehow.

(For the record, in case anyone had any doubt, the Palin thing was a joke. Trig Truthers are certifiably insane and should be kept away from sharp objects.)

I kind of doubt that. Claiming someone is your offspring when they aren’t is actually pretty tough to pull off – there’s really no way to keep people fooled very long.

So I can quit my job and they can support in in a better lifestyle than I’m accustomed.

Best I can do is find a stray cat or dog, only to find out it has expensive tastes medical issues.
