Poll: What movie should I review this weekend? Update: Good choice

posted at 12:11 pm on February 8, 2013 by

The pickings are kind of slim, with Identity Thief and Side Effects being the only real new options for me this week.  I’ve tossed Warm Bodies and Stand Up Guys as options from last week’s premieres, and a couple of people last week asked me why I haven’t yet reviewed Zero Dark Thirty, so I’ll add that in — even though I’d prefer to review newer releases, normally.  Like last week, I’ll abide by the wisdom of poll respondents, so … choose wisely, please.

Update, 8:27 ET: Heading out to the theater now. You have spoken … so zombie love story it is, I guess. Thanks a lot, folks.

Update II: Actually, Warm Bodies turns out to be a surprisingly good — and deep — film. Watch for the review on Sunday.

How about something not in English?

“The Lives of Others” was the first thing that popped into my head.

You mean like the new Rubio film set for release?

Bmore on February 9, 2013 at 5:51 PM

Ed, glad you got the reference! Big Trouble in Little China is one of my favorite John Carpenter flicks.

I will add Warm Bodies to my Redbox list, along with Les Mis & Silver Linings Playbook. Regarding Les Mis, I’m not a fan of musicals, but everyone I know who’s seen it loved it, so I’ll give it a try.

Looking forward to Ed’s review.

Ask a bunch of turds for their opinion on movies and what do you get, Ed? A movie about zombies.

Pathetic.

review it for your dog Ed. Do a podcast with yourself and a mirror. Your movie reviews suck.

Why do you even bother coming around here? You usually lurk until a thread is just about exhausted, and then drop turds that few will even bother to see. Your comments are entirely puerile and without any redeeming qualities; you’re trolling. Maybe you should comment for your dog and take a deep look in the mirror yourself.

If you don’t like my movie reviews, don’t read them. If you’re having trouble figuring out which posts they are, I give a subtle hint by starting their headlines “Film review”. Sorry if you’re somehow incapable of grasping that.
