Say, maybe Hagel really is Obama’s political “soul mate”

posted at 12:19 pm on February 1, 2013 by

I think Peter Wehner misses the connection in his blog post at Commentary this morning:

Perhaps the most alarming thing of all is that according to Bob Woodward of the Washington Post, Obama found in Hagel a “soul mate.” Woodward went on to say that the president and Hagel should “mind meld” on defense matters.

That the president would find himself so passionately attached to a man of such staggering incompetence is troubling in any case; but for Mr. Obama to want such a man to run the Pentagon is, to me, a genuinely alarming prospect.

I for one think that Hagel’s demonstrable incompetence makes the “soul mate” case stronger rather than weaker.

Dear Senator McCain,

With all due respect, if you had shown 1/10th the balls you showed grilling Hagel in the debates with Obama, we would not be in this cesspit they call an Administration.

Then again, what difference, at this point, does it make?

That’s basically what I said in another thread. Obama and Hagel are two of a kind.

Obama got elected because he’s (half) black. The only reason Hagel isn’t a shoe-in for confirmation is because Hagel is white. He’d get confirmed in a heartbeat if he was a minority.

I find it amuzing that the same people who gave us the Iraq War have the nerve to label Hagel as incompetent. It’s as though you all don’t think your excrement doesn’t stink.

President Obama’s perceived level of smart has suffered greatly in the last 4 years. By his current round of cabinet appointees, I suspect that he is trying to restore his position as the-smartest-man-in-the-room

And for people like Ed who is agitating for another war in the Middle East:

“In my opinion, any future defense secretary who advises the president to again send a big American land army into Asia or into the Middle East or Africa should ‘have his head examined,’ as General MacArthur so delicately put it,” Mr. Gates told an assembly of Army cadets here.

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates

Time for you to check-in with the shrink.

The people agitating for another war in the Middle East are the ones in Tehran not the people here.

In any case, Obama is many things but stupid is not one of them. Hagel is, well, if not stupid not very bright.

Never underestimate Mr. Obama’s smarts. His policy views? Yes. But his smarts? Nope.

And how can Iran attack the US? Will it be with the nuclear tipped ICBMs that they don’t possess? Or how about their non existent nuclear submarine fleet?

Ed! What a burn. Didn’t think you had it in you.

I find it amusing that an isolationist has the nerve to keep coming back to lecture those who don’t care to hear about the “superior” isolationist policy. It’s as though doesn’t think that he can’t win hearts and minds by tearing people down.

You care, great!!!! Too bad your policies result in numerous unnecessary US and civilian deaths and hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars flushed down the toilet. But hey, at least you care right?
