Virginia Governor McDonnell with a novel approach to “gun safety,” everybody: Maybe we should be focusing on solutions that can actually work, instead of longstanding and practically futile political agendas.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell does not think closing the gun show loophole would be effective in curbing gun violence and does not think the state should get involved in the regulation of private sales.

“I want to do something that works, not just to make people feel good,” McDonnell said on Tuesday’s “Ask the Governor” show. “Whether you look at the Virginia Tech tragedy in Virginia, or Newtown, Conn., none of those things were related to people buying anything at a gun show.” …

“The regulation of private sales I don’t think needs to be done.”

Crazy talk. We must only appeal to base emotions with useless gestures. The press (i.e., the people’s information filter) is too stupid to understand even the simplest of rational arguments.
