Hoaxster: I had romantic feelings for Manti Te’o

posted at 2:46 pm on January 30, 2013 by

Via Deadspin, two quick things about this. One: Against all odds, despite every fiber of your being telling you that no one could possibly be so gullible, it looks like Manti Te’o really might be innocent. As far as I know, the only person even tangentially related to this clusterfark who’s claimed that Te’o might be in on it is J.R. Vaosa, whose cousin was also allegedly duped by Tuiasosopo a few years ago. But even he’s come around. After initially telling Deadspin that he was 80 percent sure Te’o must have known it was a hoax, he told ESPN more recently that he thinks Te’o is blameless.

Two: Listen to “Lennay’s” voice in the clip. C’mon, that’s not really Tuiasosopo, is it? Isn’t it way, way more likely that he had a female accomplice and now he’s determined to take the fall for her and anyone else involved?

If this relationship had come anything close to Crying Game finale,……

I think you’ve squeezed all the juice out of this story…a week ago. At this point, I don’t want to hear anything more about Manti Teo unless it is that he is gay and this was some weird coverup.

Surely all involved have book and Lifetime movie deals already wrapped up, no?

No way, man. This thing has incredible legs.

You know Te’o is going to be the next Bachelor, don’t you? Sure as the sun rises. That or some has-been starlet is going to glom onto him for the Cinderella/rebound story whose movie rights are being negotiated as you read this.

No… *walks out*

I haven’t seen the clip, but can some interviewer please ask him to do a live version of his Lennay Kekua voice?

To see him pull that off would erase all doubt, would it not?

The only question I still have is: Did Te’o send artificial flowers to Lennay’s “funeral”?

If Te’o really is gay, he should just come out already. The mainstream media will turn him into a huge star on account of his “courage”.

From the very beginning I knew he was innocent!

This is what I’ve been saying. And almost no one here agreed with me. These kinds of hoaxes happen all the time. I know two people who fell victim to it and almost the same way that Manti did. This is not an unusual phenomenon at all! People ought to be more compassionate towards the victims. Yes, Manti was naïve, but really all he was guilty of is having a big heart and caring about someone he thought was sick. Manti seems like a really good guy!!

bluegill’s cult-like devotion to Manti Te’o far surpasses the esteem with which the Palinistas regard the object of their admiration.

This thing just gets more and more wacky. I mean, come on, Dr. Phil is on the case now!

Team Manti, all the way!

Didn’t you think he came off great in the Couric interview? After hearing his parents in that emotional interview, it was obvious that none of the Teo family was aware of the deception.

When bluegill says, “I know two people who fell victim to it and almost the same way that Manti did”, you gotta wonder if bluegill herself was one of them…
