In Colorado, DWS May Soon Not Just Mean Dancing With the Stars

posted at 8:19 pm on January 25, 2013 by

It had to happen, didn’t it? Legalize alcohol, eventually enact legislation banning driving while intoxicated. Now that marijuana is legal in the Rocky Mountain State, who’s ready for driving while stoned legislation? Old and busted: .08. New Hotness: Five nanograms.

Finally.

“May Soon Not” – sounds like a Vietnamese restaurant .

I thought Colorado and Washington would be burned to hell by the devil weed by now.

Eh, that only applies to Floridians.

Makes sense. Feel free to smoke – but don’t endanger others by going behind the wheel.

problem is, mythicknight, that unlike alchohol, where the onset of impairment is gradual, with marijuana, once you inhale, you’re pretty much stoned. that’s why people smoke it. it gets you high in a hurry. it’s going to be a nightmare to enforce.

And I thought Debbie Wasserman Schultz (DWS) was moving to Colorado. Phew!

My first thought too. Drugs and voting for her seem to go hand in hand.

The 13% “statistic” quoted is a manipulative lie. The way it is calculated is to test the bodies or survivors after a crash and if any of those sources tests positive in a traditional marijuana test, then all the deaths are considered “marijuana related.”

So if a bus full of sober nuns are hit and killed by a sober ambulance driver transporting a medical marijuana cancer patient all the deaths would be classified as marijuana related because traditional tests show if someone has used in the last month or so. Note that the drivers do not have to test positive, so a fatality involving a sober designated driver transporting a stoner would be included as another “marijuana related death.”

So it is rubbish.

Don’t get me wrong, I oppose baked driving! But lying to manipulate statistics is wrong and demeans our culture and decision making.

I was afraid to click on the link for a whole day because of that. Finally worked up to it this morning. What a relief!

Isn’t it already against the law to drive stoned?why should that change?

Then don’t drive while stoned would be the practical answer. It doesn’t matter if you get intoxication instantly or gradually, just plan ahead.

DWS will always mean Debbie Wassermen Schultz to me. Which when I think about it, is a lot like demagoguing while stoned.

DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) is already a crime.

They now have Dancing With Your Dog in the UK. I hope it catches on over here.

Kind of like, “Drink all you want – but don’t drive.”

That’s worked out well, too.
