While I’m thinking about it, does anyone else think that the wonderful James Taylor did a poor job singing America yesterday? I wonder if he had a cold. Plus he only sang one verse. Beyonce and the other female singer (mind is blank on her name) did super jobs and he could have phoned his in.

I’m no fan of POTUS or FLOTUS. Far from it. But I see no reason to criticize the menu served at a super special occasion like the inaugural luncheon. Give it a break. There are so many other ways to criticize that woman. For example, I have never seen fake eyelashes on a First Lady before. Michelle’s were beyond normal, venturing into… well never mind.

Unlike some others, I have no problem with the First Lady’s efforts to push for awareness of the health choices of our food — as long as the “awareness” doesn’t turn into mandates and legislation, or in edicts like the Big Apple’s Big Gulp ban.

Yeah, but here’s a great example of why many of us do have a problem with it. The left has no credibility when it comes to awareness being nothing more than awareness. They’ve established many times over their pattern when it comes to the issues they claim to hold dear. First, see to it that any change in that sphere would not endanger their own pampered lifestyle. Then, once that’s well protected and their attitude is tolerated, come the mandates and edicts that apply only the moron masses.

Add in the call for collective action.. We (well, the people as a whole, not most of us here at Hot Gas) voted ourselves into slavery, and now we’re to go ahead and kindly give up our rights. Do as we say and not as we do, indeed.

I understand the outrage and the hypocrisy of Michelle and all that. But I don’t think the White House is responsible for this menu, is it? Isn’t it the inaugural committee, led by the Senate, which is responsible for this menu?
