Chuck Hagel really should have bought ChuckHagel.com

Oops. It now belongs to the Emergency Committee for Israel.

The group, founded by Bill Kristol, is already running ads against Hagel’s nomination, and now they’ll get a big ol’ piece of the web traffic his nomination has spurred:

The William Kristol-founded conservative Emergency Committee for Israel says it’s launching cable ads starting Thursday slamming Chuck Hagel, the latest in a spate of criticism over the man who’s said to top President Barack Obama’s list for Secretary of Defense.

The spot, which hits Hagel for voting against sanctions on Iran, is an indication of the next phase of attacks on the former lawmaker, whose past stands on Israel have gotten the most attention.

Emergency Committe for Israel? I thought the Secretary of Defense is to take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the US. Since when is taking an oath to defend a foreign country (in this case Israel) become a qualification for this job?

Bagel voted for the Patriot Act. :)

Nice to know we’ll have a forward-thinking problem-solver at SecDef. Someone able to see future difficulties before they occur…

Seems to me that the leftists statists who want government affirmation of every choice in their lives are more concerned about this nomination than anyone else.

This is a pretty dumb act of hubris by Obama. You can understand why he put his presidency (and continues to put his legacy), to say nothing of the nation, at risk due to his horizon-sized blind spot toward left-wing economics.

But he’s never jeopardized his defense legacy like this. Now if there’s a national security crisis, or war, or major diplomatic foible, everyone will point at this.

Also, I might note that these “anti-nomination” campaigns are often not really a mechanism to stop the nomination, but to elicit assurances from the nominee. Which either you don’t know and you’re extremely naive and ignorant, or you do know and you’re deceitful. Neither reflects well on you. But, whatever. Carry on.

Out-friggin-standing!

Way to go, Bill Kristol. Go get em tiger.

Mazel tov!

Kristol needs to expand the attacks, adding his ant-gay and anti-abortion comments. I would use the beginning of Kennedy’s awful speech about Bork (“In Chuck Hagel’s America…”)

Before ChuckHagel.com is done, it’ll look like Bush nominated him.

Alinsky lives.

Sometimes it takes years, but political winds change. I’ll delight in being as magnanimous as you are when liberals are again the minority.

We’ll crush you and have absolutely no empathy for your thoughts or concerns. And we will dismiss all PC tactics that have cows us to this point. You people will rue the day you overstepped your objectives and stepped on our rights.

Wait for it.

the quicker you get past the anger stage of grief and reach acceptance, the better for all of us.

Umm, maybe because Israel is our only dependable ally in a region with numerous bad state actors bent on destroying us. Despite all the Paulie rhetoric, America DOES have foreign interests that enhance ours and world’s security.
