I value them, but as long as Harry Reid controls the senate, we won’t be seeing many. The payroll tax went up for everyone who earns a paycheck, and making the 2001 tax cuts permanent doesn’t qualify, IMO, as a tax cut; rather it prevents a tax increase. Recognizing that congress is dysfunctional does not make me a fan of more of it; the reverse is true, but unfortunately, not enough people agreed with that sentiment to flip the senate to the GOP, which would have been my preferred outcome.

Funny how they didn’t do this for the Pres. That would’ve been “disrespectful.”

Precisely. The way the poll was set up was terrible. The proper way to conduct this poll would be to ask people’s fav/unfav opinion of the different things, and compare it to people’s fav/unfav opinion of Congress. When people are asked the question “Which do you have a more favorable opinion of, Congress, or Colonoscopies?” They see the question as silly, and the question has an inherent assumption that people have a negative opinion of Congress comparable to the opinion they hold of Colonoscopies. And so, they give the “cool” “correct” and equally silly answer, and say that Head Lice are better than Congress.

51% of Americans not only like Obama, they voted to give him another term. That tells me all I need to know about the validity of American popular opinion.
