Green Room owned by … opponents of Chuck Hagel

Yes, that crack White House public-relations team scores again.  Apparently, no one in the media operation thought to check out the availability of, but opponents of the Hagel nomination certainly did:

A group critical of President Barack Obama’s choice of Chuck Hagel’s to be Secretary of Defense on Monday purchased the Web site domain to oppose  the former Nebraska senator’s nomination.

The Emergency Committee for Israel, an advocacy group led by Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol, is sponsoring the new site and has already produced television ads against his nomination.

Oopsie!  Here’s the latest video at the site, featuring Hagel discussing the “Jewish lobby”:

Actually, the more interesting point from that clip is the implied criticism of his then-colleagues in the upper chamber, when Hagel says, “I’m a United States Senator, not an Israeli Senator.”  I wonder how many of his colleagues in the Senate now would like to ask which Hagel thinks are disloyal to the US.

A former President makes a comment about the Palestinian/Israeli conflict and he loses a dozen staff members. Hagel makes a comment about a reality. CUFI, AIPAC, why do these organizations come to Washington to have conventions featuring people very high up in politics on both side of the aisle? To say there is no foreign lobby is a joke. And then the “Liberals mugged by reality” take the sorry liberal dog whistle argument. The Israeli lobby is very strong. Its really hard to have a conversation who cannot state a fact.
