I don’t at all think the narrative has been lost by sane people

The sane people aren’t the ones for whom the narrative is required. I just had a lunchtime conversation among the people in my office, and my boss equated semi-autos with full-autos yet again, and made 100 rounds/min sound like a lot of bullets (i.e. “brrraaaap”). And he’s not a dummy, just someone concerned about young lives.

We see yet again and again how the Media is simply a group from among that Left who repeats nonsense ad infinitum

But those are the stories that get embedded. And Piers Morgan comes out looking like a vanguard of decency against all them “gun nuts”.

The one thing that frustrates me more than the “we’re the ones with the fact-based, rational argument against those paranoid gun-clingers, and also, won’t you think of the children… THE CHILDREN?!?” arguments, is the fact that it’s sinking in.

I think it’s reasonable to assume that the Left wants guns banned. Any, all of them. Because only the Left can have guns and only if no one else does. Or something.

Doesn’t matter now. Everyone is already calling them assault rifles and deriding as stupid anyone who tries to tell them what an assault rifle really is.

The narrative is out there, and we lost it again.

I don’t at all think the narrative has been lost by sane people (we are pro-self-responsibility and that includes our own self defense when or if needed, and pro-gun for a variety of reasons, the most important of which is because we accept that we are at Liberty to own guns; this excludes the anti-gun people).

What the anti-gun people have done is prove they are (again) nincompoops and academically nonsensical stooges where guns are concerned, among other areas like the Constitution and in many other cases, sanity (Joyce Carol Oats for example of the latter, no, wait, as all of that).

We see yet again and again how the Media is simply a group from among that Left who repeats nonsense ad infinitum — I think what it is is that the Left is comprised of people who are desperate to be a part of their ‘incrowd’ or whatever (peer pressure, pressure to conform, must be ‘acceptable’ to the cooler members and show that they are). Those in Media just repeat what they’re told, what they hear, what they read in HuffPo and Kos and in the MoveOn newsletters.

We continue to see how the Left is thoughtless in so many ways, is so inexact and unstudied and lacks conscientiousness on so many levels. They haven’t “won,” they’ve just again proven what losers they are.

It might be a nit, but a revolver is not semi-automatic. A semi-automatic loads the next round into the chamber using the energy of the just-fired round. A revolver only loads the next round into firing position as the hammer is drawn back manually (by trigger pull or direct action on the hammer).

Don’t tell anybody, but but I am capable of wreaking far more havoc with the average deer rifle than a Lanza, Loughner, or a Holmes can with a Bushmaster AR carbine.

Also, Crusader Training offers classes in the ‘tactical’ use of lever action rifles.

Tactical is as tactical does.

Ahhh, but let’s not forget that the M1 Garand uses an en-bloc “clip” and no “magazine.”

The M-1 Garand has an internal magazine, into which the en-bloc clip is inserted.

I avoid the term “clip” and use “stripper” instead.

A Clip is a single piece of steel that holds rounds (aka cartriges) (aka bullets … :rolleyes:) that gets stuffed into the magazine of a weapon such as an M1 carbine. A magazine is where rounds are stored.

Ed, while your point is valid – the left is successfully turning a look-alike rifle into something it’s not – a “true” assault rifle. They interchange words like “automatic” instead of “semi-automatic” and there’s a huge difference between the two. We had a soundbite on our local radio station from a guy who said “There’s no reason for people to own machine guns…” and not one reporter called him out on it.

Kudos to Slate for trying to correct the situation – although I think the average American won’t appreciate the difference – it is there.

Please check the dictionary, you will find a revolver is not a pistol anyway(s).

A magazine is where rounds are stored. A box Magazine is a storage device that when attached to the weapon also supplies the rounds to battery when the bolt pickup takes the top round to chamber. It always bugs me when people use Clip for Magazine, but even people in the armed forces interchange the terms now.

I’ve had conversations with people who were in the military and when I use the term Revolver, they used “pistol” and the term pistol applies to revolvers and or semi-automatics.

Needless to say (for me anyways) there is no self respecting armed forces on the face of the planet that would go into battle with a semi-automatic ONLY, “assault rifle”.

The ignorance out there is astounding at times.
